What a case. It reminded me of the more recent university scandal where rich parents gave loads of money for their children to be accepted. Did you ever watch the movie
Twelve Angry Men? Your details about the case are clear and I found this a fascinating read.

Thank you for the review and comments. Yes I did see the movie "Twelve Angry Man" I could have been in one about 11 angry jurors and one nervous woman.

This is a really good memoir/story! Your writing is excellent and uses a great selection of vocabulary! I particularly enjoyed that you took a paragraph to describe lunches and your diet, as that lightened the "mood of the read" and gave us another sense to experience while reading!
Thank you for sharing looking forward to reading more!

Hi Beth, as usual this is such a wonderful read. Yes, I can imagine the jury duty could be quite tedious. I will never know as I have a law degree in and therefore exempt. I do remember the Oklahoma bombing. I think the whole world was in shock. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla. One lawyer on this site told me since he was a lawyer he knew all about juries and trials. I guess he wouldn't have served though. I always appreciate you reviews and comments.

Good ol' jury duty. As time consuming as it is, my own personal experienced were interesting. But, it sounds like yours were even more eventful than mine. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric, It was interesting and boring and not something I care to repeat. You may learn why in the next chapter.

Jury duty is a tough situation for many reasons but your moment by moment memory of the events stuns me. I don't think I would ever want to be in the position of determining what happens to someone else's life... I was asked to serve once but when asked if I would believe everything a police officer told me... I answered no and was excused.

Thanks Carol, I appreciate the review and comments. If they had asked me that question about believing everything a police officer said, I would have been excused too.

I'm in suspense as to the verdict! My guess is you're voting not guilty--and have to convince others--can't wait to find out. Stunning chapter--shocking ending.

Thank you Elizabeth. How is it that you are able to do a review. I hope in means you still with us. The way this trial ended up doesn't make me proud.

The default is that stories are posted restricting reviews to members. Regardless, most of the time I'll stay off the record so that fans won't resent me for playing favorites.

Given that I used to be a lawyer, the jury selection process and the trial procedures were very familiar to me. You did a good job of describing the process in detail.

Thank you, Ted. I sure it was familiar to you. It was my first time inside a courtroom. I found it fascinating at first but it didn't end up so well.

Wow, what a momentous time to be on jury duty. Your memory is like a videorecorder - you remember every detail and for legal things like a jury, your detailed observations about the lawyers and the witnesses and the judge, who seemed to favor the prosecution. Found your coverage of this trial fascinating and how that bombing changed the ways courtrooms operate since then.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. My memory is that great. I did get a journal for a while after we moved to Chattanooga. I'm amazed at how much I'd forgotten. Some of it probably needed to be forgotten. LOL

I was on jury duty once for an insurance case where the woman claimed she'd been so injured she couldn't perform housework or her wifely duties. When we got to the jury room, I pointed out the woman came in wearing 4-inch heels. We didn't award them anything. I wouldn't want to be on a murder trial for sure!

Thank you for the review and for sharing your story about jury duty. She didn't do herself any favors with these high-heels. I proved she wasn't that bad off.

Had an office during that time in the Federal bldg and was in the street several times from phony bomb threats. Good one, Beth.

Thank you Chuck, I pleased you liked this. The McVey courthouse bombing came as a shock. We were used to terrorist and especially not domestic ones. I appreciate the stars

I was in the cantina having coffee with some of the FBI agents when it happened. They had a TV on a we watched it thinking the same thing. I was totally appalled when learning an EX Gi did it for revenge on Waco. He killed 168 beautiful people never did him any harm.
