Hi Kace, I have read things on the Alamo...
I know many men died at the battle of the Alamo...
they believed in what they were fighting for...

the design on the door looks Mexican...I wonder
how many people walked through it...

I love your poem beautiful you...so sorry I got so far behind...I love your poem...and the story told you...
very well written...and I love the old picture of the door...love you girl...Linda xxoo

Hello Melissa, Thanks for reading. I don't know why Alamo jumped into my head. I know it's famous in your history and not mine. I remember the movie so long ago. Brave men.

This is a creative entry for the contest. I can feel the spirits of these men from reading your words. Your poem gives the reader a new perspective on history.

This was fantastic, Kay. I do agree that the doors do look Mexican. The Battle for the Alamo was indeed bravely fought and so many died but their was so much to do. The brave soldiers fought well and died well. Great job, greatly enjoyed.

Aussie,

How delightful that you chose the Alamo for one of your "door" poems. You have recounted the tale well. I like the allusion of the doors to the Pearly Gates for those who lost there lives within. Very nice.

This is a fascinating perspective on the theme. It is clear you have become familiar or have familiarized yourself with the events surrounding the Alamo. I like the ethereal angle you introduced. It gives the reader cause to pause. Well done.

Hello Liz, long time ago I remembered watching the story on TV I think Audie Murphy was in it. I also have a photographic memory. Thanks so much for reading. K xx

I may remember it too, now that you mention it. I think I saw one of the earlier movies. I guess they've made several since but, for some reason, it has not interested me. I suppose if I lived in Texas it might, but I'm up in the corner in Vermont.

The Alamo. The Alamo is a 1960 film that tells the legendary true story of a small band of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in hopeless combat against a massive army in order to prevent a tyrant from smashing the new Republic of Texas.

You have touched on a sore spot in history, Kay. As a youngster, I watched Davy Crockett at the Alamo. It was wild adventure. As I grew older, I viewed that incident in a different light.

Hi Paul, I too watched Davy Crocket "King of the wild frontier" when I was a kid. I don't know why the Alamo popped into my head! K xx
