This is a very cute and enjoyable rhyming poem you have penned about decades of Valentine Days. The art work you chose was really cute too. Thank you for the smile. On Valentine Day it is our 35th anniversary! Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Congratulations on 35! These days, it is significant. I often tell my wife, "Good men are hard to find" to which she answers, "I'm still looking". Of course, on our 35th, over dinner out, I said to her, "It has been a good marriage. Three daughters, fun times, but I am going to leave you." She did not ask "why", she asked "when?" I answered, "As soon as I find a redhead who owns a liquor store." We are now at 44 years and she's been helping me look! Thanks for your nice review. I aways like to make a lady smile!

My late husband used to say something similar.like "you only got 25 years for murder". To which I'd respond with" yeah, but remember it's a double sentence with no time off for good behavior."
I was married to the same man for 55 years
before he died in February of 2019.It was a good marriage where we stuck up for each other and stood shoulder to shoulder to any one who tried to come at us.Yeah, I miss him. cheers Cass

Honored that my poem brought back fond memories for you. Thank you for telling me. Marriage is not easy, these days. So many things to wedge two people apart. We who are lucky have a partner who forgives our shortcomings and celebrates our victories. Seems you had a great one! I shared Australia with my wife and 3 daughters many years ago. I was a regular sales visitor, but took them on a wander. What a memory!
On my very first trip to Australia, I had started in Sydney at the home office of a major distributor of industrial plastics - mostly used in mining and marine applications. Then to Melbourne, Tassie, and to Adelaide - a beautiful small city just to my taste. As I boarded a plane one night for the flight to Perth, an Aussie gent arrived for his seat next to me. "G'day, mate! How ya goin"? Well, it was the middle of the night and I was obviouly going to Perth by plane, so another lesson in Aussie. I answered, Good evening, sir and how are you?" He smiled and said, "Ah, you're a yank. Welcome to Oz"!
"Better than yank, I'm a Texan and this is my first visit to your fine country."
"So, how you liking it so far?"
"Are you kidding? Its just like home. I love it!"
"Really? Just like home? How is that, mate?"
"Well, it's hot, just like Texas. Y'all have poisonous snakes - lots of them, just like Texas. The people are very friendly and love to talk - that's Texas. We love our beer as well. But, the most remarkable similarity is that we have two major cities, Dallas and Houston, who just bark and banter constantly about who is best, who has the best food, the best weather, the best teams, and on and on. Y'all have Sydney and Melbourne doing exactly the same thing!"
He laughed and said, "Yeah, mate, and we who live in Adelaide or Perth know that Sydney and Melbourne are arguing over 3rd place at best."
It has been a quarter century since that flight and I still love to tell the tale. Good onya for giving me the chance. Cheers!

Forty-two here and counting and still the lumps beneath the sheet are powerfully enchanting but like Sir Hillary I find the mount is to hard to climb so I leave my Ms Tibet all alone. HVD to you both.

I suppose keeping up with the Valentine tradition helps to keep you young at heart if not on the stairs. Have you tried using the banister rail to haul yourself up? It transfers some of the effort from knees to elbows.

I, my friend, do not even challenge stairs with no banisters - even if someone else is shouting the round on the 2nd floor! Glad you stopped by!
