Poor yabbie - it just goes to show that what we hanker after is not always good for us ... Great story, and interesting because it was different and because it was Australian, so well done.

Hi Wendy, Thanks for reading my friend. Yes, I try to educate them on our culture. I did send you a card? Love, Kay xx

Hi Kay, I am so sorry - I think I must have accidentally deleted the card when I was cleaning up my emails the other day!!!! I must have assumed it was the Christmas card. SO sorry! But thank you so much for thinking of me. Tell me when is your birthday?

I feel like such an idiot!! I think my brain is past its use-by date! Anyway I am honoured to be in your thoughts!!
How will I ever remember yours - so far away?! Even though I just put it on my calendar, I still have to remember to look at the calendar (and yes, it's a paper calendar!) LOL.

Hee, Hee, Put it in your phone? Stick it on your forehead with a post-it? Er, I keep a birthday book - I have a lot of FS friends so I put their address with their birthdays. ZZzz are we there yet?

This is quite the tale, you have a message about what we want, it is not always good for us, we could end up as food! Love the dialog and the scene you create here. Excellent story that teaches the reader.

Hee, Hee, when the English come here and sunbake, they turn bright red like the lobster or crayfish. Our sun is very strong. Glad you liked the story my friend. Love, Kay xx

This is like a folk tale and I rally enjoyed reading it, Kay. I think that natural blue color is gorgeous. I've never heard of this kind of crustacean. You definitely have a gift for storytelling. xo Janet

Thank you Janet. I had written one previous to this and it was well accepted in US, thought I would write more on our culture. K xx

The picture was great, Kay, of the blue yabbie. Poor thing, not knowing that basically all seafood turns red when cooked. Grandma, Carra and Unde all had a fine feast and the yabbie finally turned red. This was a great folklore, I really enjoyed it.

Hi Alie, Thanks for reading and glad you liked. Most bush kids go hunting Yabbies' for food and fun - tiny and tasty. Blessings, Kay xx

Your photo drew me in, Aussie. Then I definitely had to read to see if there is really such a thing as a blue yabbie. I am amazed like I was the first time that I saw a photo of a blue-footed boobie. That color is remarkable.
I like the old timie narrative of your story. It's almost a fable. I do think there is an error in your first line though. It should be glided and Murrumbidgee. He
Otherwise, it is just perfect. I enjoyed your yabbie. I'm still shaking my head.

Being from the other side of the world, I've never experience either blue or red yabbies, but this is a very enjoyable way to learn about them. Not so enjoyable for the poor blue one though. :-) Thanks for sharing this most amusing tale.

Hello PK, They are small (around five inches) look like a baby crayfish. Very tasty. Thanks for reading new friend. K xx
