John, I saw that you had posted a poem and couldn't wait to read it!
I read Green Eggs when I was a child; more than 40 years later I gave my son Oh, the Places You Will Go for his high school graduation.
There is only one Dr. Suess. A lovely tribute to him.

And I thought Dr. Seuss was more modern than that. But thanks for telling me, it must have been because I becam more aware of him recently, a beautiful written tribute to a great writer, who didn't allow the limitation of convention to stop him. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I must confess- before I read your incredible tribute to the incomparable Dr. Seuss, I assumed (which still would have no doubt been enjoyable) the poem would be written in his renowned style. I'm so pleased it wasn't- it made your homage all the more meaningful somehow- from you to him, poet to poet. Dr. Seuss is a constant bed time story/any time read in my home to my two little girls. Though maaaaybe I didn't give them much choice, I am beyond proud of their appreciation for the books- all of which have essential lessons, strategically delivered by his brilliant poetry.. Concepts that children may otherwise struggle to grasp. Maybe your writing didn't match the man's style- but in terms of influential wisdom through words, you did the man justice!

Dr Seuss' writing will withstand the test of time. The number of generations who have appreciated his books will continue forward.
I read them, read them to my children and now to my grandchildren. A truly gifted writer and illustrator .

What a nice tribute to a favorite childhood author of mine. How much more I appreciated him when reading his books to my children and grandchildren. Most all of his books had an important message in them cloaked in a way that children (and adults) can understand and enjoy them, and his illustrations were marvelously humorous.
