Great picture. I can see why you were inspired to write this story in a poem. Great rhyme and vivid imagery throughout along with lovely alliteration.
Well done.
Blessings

Diane,
This is almost a sad song. I don't think any bird should be caged. They are meant to fly free. Being warm and fed all the time is a plus. But seeing all the other birds fly must he hard.
Fillsed should be filled.
Good luck, keep writing and stay healthy

Your contest entry was fun to read. Great job with the rhymes, the smooth flow, and the message. It seems Ol' Red at first wonders about his friends flying south for winter, but he quickly decides the warm air inside his cage is great. The picture is adorable. I like how the two rhyme schemes work well to tell his story.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

This is a really cool poem for this contest, it should do well, good luck. I think it is great that the picture inspired the poem. You have a very creative mind to envision the thinking of the bird, and then write a poem about it. Well-done!

Nothing much has changed about birds and they don't seem to have learned anything new over the centuries unlike humans, but don't you just love them anyway, a fine write, love Dolly x

' The Ancients Speak ' , is an exceptionally well-written and deftly descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a privilege to both read and review. Good luck with the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

Very good story and an interesting rhyme scheme. I'm a little puzzled by the last stanza. Does the parrot want to fly south with the other birds or is he happy in his warm cage?

The artwork is just beautiful! The author's words are informative, interesting, and creative. I found the author conveys a detailed account
of the bird's experiences. The last line of this poem made me smile. The poem flows and connects well.

I enjoyed your unique poetic form here as you interwove single rhyming lines in between the rhyming quatrains. And those single lines give us the real story moving from the ancestors in the wild and the relief to be a well cared for bird in a human's home. Best wishes in the contest!
