Such a cute picture to illustrate your entry into the Nonet Contest. And your words tell a story using the proper format. No changes or correction needed. Great job and good luck!

Awwwwwwwww! That's a sweet and beautiful-looking dog! I wish I had one; I will have one soon. But that dog doesn't need to do laundry! LOL. I love the flow of the poem and the descending formatting you did it in. I'm sure this here, Deb is a winner. The picture is absolutely perfect!

You're getting a dog!? That's awesome! I do love my old (very old) pup. We walk between 3 and 5 miles per day, weather permitting. He keeps me active and from getting 'author butt'. Try to adopt from a shelter if you can - you save that dog plus you make room for a new dog in his kennel at the shelter. They say 'adopt one, save two'. True.
And thank you so much for the stars!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Deb

LOL. Yes, walking a dog seems like very good exercise for both the person and the animal. And adopting from a shelter sounds like an amazing idea, but there are so many cute strays where I am that my dad might just pick on up, take it to the vet, and get it checked out before we can take it home. And you're welcome!!

Getting a stray off the streets is equally good. Those poor guys - 15 degrees outside, eating out of wherever... Save one! :)
reply by AJ McCall on 24-Jan-2022
YUP! We actually save any turkey or chicken bones for them. Just doing what we can. ;)

Fresh water, larger bones, and old blankets (if you're in a place where you won't get in trouble for junking up the neighborhood). Our shelter has barrels that have been cut in half, had a doggie door cut in them, and are blanketed with hay that is put out in areas where a stray sighting has been reported. That's a lot, of course. But doing what we can is important, no matter the gesture. I am only able to put fresh water out on my porch for them, but that's my part, I guess. 😊

Aww, Deb! That's great! (A lot better than just giving a dog a bone, LOL.) Helping is my passion and seems to be yours too. I might try THAT sometime. ;)
reply by the author on 25-Jan-2022
Ah, dopn't misunderstand. I don't do the barrels. Not driving limits my ability to do things on that scale. But I think it's a great idea.
I also saw where someone took a large rubbermaid storage box, inverted it, cut a 'dog door' in it and left it out for strays. I think they weighed it down or staked it or something. Thought that was neat, too. :)

That does sound cool... ;) My dad would totally be up for it if I mention it to him.

This is a very cute nonet for the contest. I like that it rhymes & the ending is great. Our dog burrows under any blanket he can find -- not much help when it comes to laundry. Best wishes in the contest. Carol

Great for the poetry contest. You follow the nonet structure. The last line makes the poem with its twist and unexpected ending. Laying down on the job, lol. Great job and good luck in the contest.

Loved it! Clever, balanced, sonorous. The grammar proscriptionist might ask, "shouldn't it be 'lying down on the job!'' But then you know proscriptionists! I'll only point out that "lying" doesn't throw it out of balance or change the meter.

Ah... That Texan slipped in on me. lol. I did go change it to make it more American English correct. :)
    Thanks, Jay!

Deb,

What fun! I do agree with the part that the work is never done - just when you sigh and dust off your hands you see that the first round of duties needs to be done again! And it starts all over. --sigh-- No rest for the weary!

Please tell me you saw my apology?

Apology? What in the world do you have to apologize for?
reply by robyn corum on 22-Jan-2022
For my silly response telling you to go look in my portfolio for pieces for your anthology. I was excited and just went a bit nutso. Later I realized it and felt soooo bad. I'm really sorry.
reply by the author on 24-Jan-2022
Lol. It didn't warrant an apology. I'm not sure I'd have time to do that for everyone, but might be for you because I love your work so much. But if it makes you feel better, of course, you're forgiven with no hard feelings. :)
Interested in the Kid's Anthology? I'm fixing to put the call up for it.
And, even though you cannot be a member of our local writing group, I'd like to invite you to join the Cre8ive Pen on FB. (Are you even on FB?) You won't be able to make the meetings but I try to put interesting articles, calls for submissions, etc. up daily. YOu might find something of interest there. :)

It sounds awesome and you are a doll. But I don't do FB. I just had to get that toxicity out of my life. Thanks so much, though. I think you're wonderful!

I only do FB business - my personal page is posted on maybe once or twice per month when I want to share an article with my niece or nephew - pretty much just like my business pages! lol. I'm a snob - I don't read anyone else's posts unless they ta me. And that's usually pics of the grandkids or, ta-da-da! - articles. lol.

Maybe if i could figure out how to juusst do that!

Well, Deb, Ranger wanted to help, but needed a nap first. Great job with your fun contest entry. Your syllable count is correct per line. I enjoyed its little story.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

    Hello, Jan ~
Much appreciated! I was concerned that he just looked like part of the laundry pile and probably should have pointed him out, but I'm going to guess it's okay. lol
    Thanks for reading!
    Blessings,
    Deb

That's so cute! And you did a fine job with your nonet which even rhymes and tells us the story behind the picture! It's great when our pets "help" us with the chores or at least give us a smile. Best wishes in the contest!

    Hi Helen ~
My dog, Oden, always loves to helpwith laundry. Of course, wiht his old bones, he just wants to lay on the warm stuff just out of the dryer before I can get it folded! lol
Thanks for reading and your kind comments.
    Blessings,
    Deb
