I love Maine and can double vouch that shortah and watah is indeed a fine rhyme! (smile)--

Everything in the world to love about this poem. I grew up with a dad and two brothers for who fishing was about as necessary as breathing!

(I once "helped" them prepare for a day at the lake by washing all their lures in pine-Sol--I was nearly put up for adoption!)

(The joke is it was one of their best "catch and release" excursions ever!)

I smiled clear through...then double back and cast out again just for the joy of reeling your words back one more time!

Thanks, karenina. I wash my lures in Lestoil. That's a great last line in your review.

A story I will tell you speaks nothing but the truth...My father known to most as Cap'n Don. His life's work was to design and produce fishing lures. He was sort of famous in his own world. Your story made me feel like home.

Thanks, Di. I kind of famous in my world, too. Though my world is quite small.

Love it! A born storyteller you are. I was a fisher-woman in my youth. Loads of fun and terrific pacing in your entry for Share a story in poem. I bet you have many fishy tales, especially the sizes of the ones that got away! Good luck in the contest Paul. K xx

A very compelling story in a poem. You held the reader's interest from the start to the finish, with enough detail about the preparation, and great story of the battle. Well written, so best wishes for the contest.

Like hunting grizzly bears. [LOL!]

Thanks, amahra. I've been thinking about it, and I think I'll pass on the grizzly bear hunt.

This is a really cool story told in great rhyme and rhythm. I enjoyed the humor in the story. I do believe that this one deserves to win the contest. That is an adorable picture of the little boy fishing.

This is a well crafted poem with a story in the thematic sharing, the traumatic fishing experience; as you have worded, so plainly expressed; well said, well done; post more. ALCREATOR LITT DEAR (D R)

As one fisherman to another, that there is one whopper of a story, Paul. :) You had me reeling and walking in that stream of water with words that I lost myself a while or two. Still, I bet the big one got away. :) I can see why you left teaching kids to catching fish. More fun. This is a very good entry for the Share a Story in a Poem Contest. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the great review. Yeah, catching fish is more fun, but it's also more dangerous.
