Of course, in grandma's time the political system did not seem any more reasonable either, but we wonder how we manage to make as many mistakes as any other generation.

This is nicely done as a pathway to lead us back to simpler times. I like your lightly penned reference to all the political scandals tha are currently hitting us on all fronts. It has gone beyond a joke.
