This lune poem, Snow Day, has the right setup and brings back to my mind those glorious snow days when everything came to a standstill but tobogganing.

Snow days! Who didn't love snow days? Probably our mothers. That was when most of our mothers were home doing the heavy work of life, running a household. When my kids had snow days I had to call in to work to take off. When they were older they stayed home alone. Luckily my husband worked different hours so they weren't alone for long. Today my daughter is a teacher. She hates snow days because it puts her lesson plans behind and because she teaches high school they usually are preparing for semester exams. But now snow days are almost a memory. With Covid getting schools set up for virtual learning, they can now switch to that if inclement weather hits. Kids stay home but school goes on. I'm sad that snow days may not be in kids' futures. Good luck in the contest!

You are so right about what happens today if school is dismissed. My son works for an elementary district and indeed it?s virtual learning if the buses can?t run. Many thanks for your sharing "Snow Day" and your comments. Rod

I used to love snow days when I was teaching in a snowbelt town. They even figured in a week longer school year to cushion our snow days off. Then I messed it up. If we had a day off, rather than enjoying it, I was thinking of how late we'd have to go at the end of the year. I eventually just let it all go & enjoyed myself

I, too, loved those unexpected holidays when I was teaching. I forgot about the extra day in June until it happened. Many thanks for sharing my poem. Rod

-Great artwork and nice presentation.
-You wrote a good lune with a good topic.
-Effective imagery describing a snow day from school.
-The mood is upbeat because children usually
love snow, and getting out of school even more!
-A very good concluding line.
-Good luck in the contest.

This reminds the reader of times long gone, when we couldn't wait to escape from school to be free to play in the snow - a wondrous toy provided by nature just for children.

Yes, this poem does seem nostalgic these days. When my daughter, a teacher, gets a snow day NOW, the administration turn it into a remote learning day. Many thanks for sharing. Rod

This is an excellent lune poem for the contest
Winter is a great time for children (and a few adults too)
But most of us have to deal with the icy roads and shoveling.
Perfect picture choice.
Nicely done.
Best wishes.

Thank you very much, Robert, for your praise of my Lune. I am not sure who appreciates Snow Days more, kids or their teachers.
