This is so sad. It seems to be becoming more common again at the moment in our supposed enlightened countries. In fact, attacks on all women are coming back to the fore. Anyway, this was a fine write to bring the horrors to our attention.

Thank you very much. Yes, a sad write here, but I felt the need to acknowledge her, (and other similar victims), and call out evil. I appreciate your review.

To be honest, Wendy, I wish I had never read this poem. I am aware of the murdered people including children but when I turn to read a poem of yours I look for solace and comfort and peace. I guess in the end she has everlasting peace and contentment, but at what cost? Her murdered body found in a barrel near a river is no way to find the peace this poor girl needed so desperately at her final hours. A warning of the content would be appreciated in the future. That way, I could choose whether to read about a grizzly murder or not.
Take care,
Jesse

Hi Jesse,
Thank you for your comments. The poem was written to acknowledge the girl, which she deserves, and to speak up against the reality of evil, which one cannot avoid facing. I write what is on my heart, and sometimes that is not always solace, comfort and peace, but enormous grief and distress. That's part of me too, and a part of this life.
Take care too.

So many on Fan Story lately have been posting about the sad, grief-stricken, and terrible news without a warning symbol as to what to expect when reading their posts. I like to choose what I read and what emotions I want to feel. Enormous grief and distress may be part of your life but it needn't be a part of mine.
Have a good day,
Jesse

Thanks for sharing this poem to honour this poor child's life, Wendy. Such a tragic ending. It is hard to understand what possesses anyone to do such a thing, but unfortunately drugs and any kind of brain trauma make this a too often occurrence.

Thank you, Judy. Yes, you are right, and we may never understand what goes through some-one's head. They have arrested the girl's mother's boyfriend. The girl normally lived with her grandmother, but was holidaying with her mother.

This piece made me so sad. Which means your poem did
it's job of drawing the reader deep into your soliloquy. And
that's hot. And since it's all about networking our unity, I will be

This is about one of the most terrible kind of acts perpetrated in a fallen world. innocence is a precious thing and once it is gone, can never be gained back. Losing a child in this way is heinous. I am glad you wrote this caring poem about that little nine-year-old girl. Prayers for her family. (I lived in St. Louis when Amber Hagerman was kidnapped and killed. It brought about the current Amber Alert system which is a good thing...but, still, what a terrible and unnecessary loss.)

How can people be evil enough to do such things?! I personally believe in demon possession. The Bible describes instances of demon possession--and not one verse says it will stop in the future! Your poem is so moving and expressive.

Yes, one does wonder about that. Thank you for reviewing with such compassion.
They have arrested the mother's boyfriend. The child lived about 1000 kilometres away, with her grandmother, but was visiting her mother for the summer holidays.

Very nice tribute to a young lady who passed way to early.
It does sadden me that there is such evil in the world.
Thank you for telling us her story.

To be people who abuse a child comment the ultimate sin and even the death penalty is too good for them. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I will pray for this child's friends and family.

Wendy,
Oh, my. That's awful. It's always amazing to me that there could be people in the world who could do things like this - I mean, on purpose, you know? Thoughts and actions like this are so completely foreign to the majority of us that we simply cannot comprehend them. And thank heavens! Right? There would be something wrong with us, too, if we could.
This is a beautiful way to honor her passing and the pain she went through.
If I were to point out anything 'negative'-ish... *smile* ... I might say that the following portion didn't rhyme - but that may just be the different in our languages? Or speech styles, whatever/however you'd say it. ha
The evil choices made
By sin personified.
Thank you for you kind heart. It's another of the reasons we appreciate you so much!

Thank you so much Robyn. A compassionate review, and much appreciated.
Yes, I knew that bit didn't rhyme properly (but I was stuck!), so went for a "near-rhyme".
