Hi Elaine,
I have always found this to be true. The older I get, the more at peace I feel beside the ocean. I love to walk out along the pier in Saint Andrews, to breathe in the salty air and digest the view of cyan waves and bobbing boats. In August of 2020, we went to Prince Edward Island for a week's holiday. I remember sitting on the back deck, binoculars in hand, looking at the fishing boats moving through greens and blues. A fabulous view!
I like the alliteration in,
"solace in the sea"
and the rhyme of "sea/tranquility"
So much truth in your final lines,
"relax
ocean soothes
the weary soul"
I know it's so good for my blood pressure!
Love the artwork! If I ever find a mermaid, I'm going to ask her where the gold is. She would know! I'm sure she has been swimming around old sunken Spanish galleons!

Nicely done, and I love the phrase "mermaid tranquility." I particularly like that you rhymed the phrase with the first line. I also like the idea that "ocean soothes the weary soul." Everything about your poem has a soothing effect, and a gentle flow like the water itself. The picture fits perfectly.

We all need to relax a bit these days after a trying couple of years. An undersea getaway would help!
