That is a great entry for the Best Day Ever contest. When we look back at our lives, we can remember lots of "best days" and it is great when we can sit down with someone else and remember them.

Hello fellow Writer a happy Tuesday to you, I hope this finds you well. Thanks for sharing your Best Day ever entry, it was an enjoyable read. I wish I could relate but I don't have friends (by choice) i have a lot of associates but no friends, maybe my bar for friendship is too high or maybe I'm just an antisocial introvert. Anyway, good job and good luck in the contest.

Sorry to hear no friends - I would be lost without one or two. Still, to each his own. Wish you a happy day and thanks so much for the good luck wishes. ann

Good story. Thanks for sharing.
In 1st person it would be more natural to spell out 'that is' rather tan i.e.
And so it went - This sentence has 3 semicolons. Better to make 3 sentences.
afterwards --- just - spacing. (1 dash is enough)
possible. Yeah, - spacing. Sometimes you have 1, sometimes 2, and it appears that there might be 3 spaces between sentences here.
Steve looked at his watch:

"Geez, Ann, I've got to go. - no paragraph break
Best of luck.

Yes, I'm grateful for my memories both good and bad because they are what makes me who I am. We often hear people comment, "If I could do things over, I would..." I don't know if I'd actually change the major choices I've made, because I've learned from them ... even the bad choices. Of course, I've said and done things I wish I hadn't and people have been hurt. I wish I could change them but since I can't, I can only choose not to repeat them. I enjoyed your post because it made me think of my own memories. Good luck in the contest.

I'm afraid the competition in this contest is a bit more than my little story will show much. I appreciate your reading and your words of encouragement.

That's sweet! I'm glad you have such a good friend to have breakfast and share memories with. That's a great idea to bring up the contest and write about the memories shared. Best wishes in the contest!

I think that was an excellent 'best day ever' story. You're right, those memories we cherish, putting them together, makes for one heck of a best ever day that will last forever. Well done, and good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra xxx

I really like your creative approach to this. I could never pick a best day, because there were so many great ones, all different, and I don't tend to think or speak in superlatives. Neither can I ever come up with a favorite anything.

I liked the details of the story. Good contest entry.

Oh my...totally expected you and Steve to get together. I thought maybe it was a story of how a childhood friend turned into more. But I did enjoy it! You did an awesome job of interweaving all those great best-day-evers into one piece. A very creative way of making a final best day ever...great job!

Thank you! I also wanted to make the point that a male/female friendship can be extra special when there is sexual sidestory. I appreciate you reading and commenting.

I immersed myself in your story, pretending I was at the table with Ann and Steve reminiscing about good days involving people and activities. There is a touch of nostalgia and poignant moments but the overall sense is one of connection and gratitude. Your dialogue feels very natural.
(What are sausage biscuits? I guess they are sausages with biscuits but I've never heard of them.)

All of the fast food restaurants serve them -- sausage biscuits - and they are indeed nothing more than a biscuit with patty sausage inside. Where do you live?
reply by LisaMay on 29-Jan-2022
I live in New Zealand. I don't go to fast food places very often, so maybe they do have them here.

Your contest entry reads well, Mystery Author. I like the many examples and how you 'banked' them. That was a great line and way of remembering best days. I like the dialogue, the way you described events and husband/wife etc.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan
