A well written and compassionate post, with very smooth flow, rhythm and metre, and careful and effective rhyme. The message is excellent. I wish you great success in the contest.

So very true. Nicely said and written. Just so you know though. . .not everyone looks away because they lack empathy. So many times, I have nothing in my car to share. So many times I am three lanes over in traffic and it would not be fair to put them in harms way to give them some change, or whatever I have. We can't always sit in judgement of others.
I do so appreciate your poem. Best of luck to you with this excellent writing.

Many people pass by, but there are many others who stop and help. Basically people are kind and generous. I give when I can, but sadly I'm not doing well financially. We all do what we can. Thank you for this thoughtful review. :)

If you aren't doing well financially. . .then you need to remember it's a job for someone else to learn the feeling of giving. Knowing you have helped someone else is pretty special. Like the little drummer boy, if you have no gift to give, it's a gift to let someone else help.

This is a very well-written poem, good rhyming, flows smoothly, and tells a sad story. With the cold weather we are having, those living on the streets must be suffering a lot. But for the grace of God, it could be you or me.

It is sad to see people on the street in a hopeless and homeless state and many of them have mental illness and some just fall on hard times. some choose this way of life and some have it thrust upon them. We as a society have accepted them and find their life aberrant and fear being like them. Once this way of life is in their bones it is hard for them to change. A sad and poignant write, love Dolly x
