The last blessing should be blessings.

Touch of humor in this version.

To think it was all planned before the twins were even born.

Enjoyed reading this account.

Thank you for reviewing this and for liking the humor I gave this story in retelling it. I appreciate you noticing the missing s.

This is a cute story recreated from a bible psalm, but you made it you own. I enjoyed the twist at the end of one twin posing as the other. This is well done. Suggestion, you might want to go back through it, I saw a few typos you might want to fix.

Thank you for the review. I did look it over and found a couple of stops where I needed to change the tense and some comma's missing. This was for contest about blessings but I lacked one review having it recognized.

The heart is what the Lord deals with, even though salvation and destiny belongs to all, even though Jacob was known as the supplanter, a sin in God's eyes, God still knows whom is best suited to what is received to further His will, but that can change, depending...beautifully written, you made that point perfectly, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. It was for a contest in Jan. called Blessings. I lacked one review having it recognized so I thought I'd promote it again.

I'm not offended in the least, Beth. You told the story well--fiction based on facts. Your story flows well with great details. I could see everything as I read. Anyone who reads this can read the story in the Bible as you stated--no problem.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you so much, Jan. I'm so glad it doesn't see to be offending people. Some said the story is easier to understand written this way.

I'm upset because this didn't come into my PM box. I am lucky I found it. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. God will answer our prayers, we just need to ask. It is a very good idea to thank God for ALL our blessings. Good luck with the contest.

Thank you Barbara. It didn't come to your box because it was in a blind contest for Blessings. I won a second place. I'm glad you liked it. You probably didn't get "Do words really matter/"either. I think it is still active.

This is an exceptional story from the bible. Your version is folksy, entertaining, and easily understood. There are all kinds of versions of the Bible. After reading this I am thinking you should publish one by Beth! I am thinking more people would read it. And this is more thinking than I have done in a long time. Great work.

Thank you Terry, I'm so glad you liked this. It was fun and easy to write, so I'm thinking I would like to write more of the Bible stories told in a easy to understand way.

I enjoyed your folksy retelling of the Esau and Jacob story. You would have thought that Isaac knew better than to go against the prophecy already spoken to them before the twins were born! But then, he probably still harbored some resentment about almost becoming the sacrifice when he was a youth. Congratulations on your Second Place Prize!

Thank you, Helen, That is 4th second place I won or shared this month. One first, and one third. It never amounts to much but it gets me listed as ranked with poems and stories. LOL

I like the idiom you have chosen to use when retelling this bible story. It makes it so much more relatable for the younger generation. I hadn't really considered this definition of blessing or the extreme importance associated with it. You've taught me something!

This rendition of the story of Esaua and Jacob puts a slightly different spin on the story, making Rebecca seem less calculating..

Well, she been told when she was pregnant what would happen with the babies. She was just carrying out the plan. It worked out like it was supposed to. Sometime women have to work around their stubborn husbands.

I love the way you retold and explained this important Bible story. I've heard many preachers tell this same story and other stories using common everyday terminology. So, I don't think it's plagiarism. I once heard a preacher make up a story using the Psalm 23 (The Lord is my Shepard), where he had names for the sheep. The main two sheep were named Goodness and Mercy, who will follow you all the days of your life. I would enjoy reading other Bible stories written by you.
