A personal and thorough take on the idea of pride. I particularly like the sentiment of pride being 'Asking for help when it is hard to do'. This is an idea that is consistently undermined in our society and to see it used to signify pride in oneself and in others is refreshing and heartfelt. I also really like the repetition of ideas for emphasis (such as 'safe, secure'). There is a certain amount of pride that comes with selflessness and continuing in the face of adversity and I think that this poem illustrates this really well.

Enjoyed reading this for so many reasons. It reminds me of the values both my parents instilled in we four girls as we were growing up. I believe some of these pearls of wisdom have been cast aside, which may help explain why our world is in the state it's in. Very well stated! Wishing you luck in the contest.
