Two lines brought a smile to my face:
"I heard what God said, too," Jinny said, not to be outdone.
"Wonderful! What did God say, Jinny?"
"It was the same thing He said to Jimmy."
And then: "God said we should sleep in here with you guys tonight."
Beautiful family story about parents and children and God. Well done.

As always, your kind words are a great encouragement. When I first wrote this it ended up with 750 words but the contest had a limit of 450. My big fear was that I would leave the skeleton too bare to carry the story. Your rating says maybe I didn't slash the wrong parts. Thank you.

Smart kid and cute story. Twins are fun to have around when they are not getting into trouble. I had a set of twins and like Jimmy and Jinny they are a boy and girl. They were very different, with the boy being the aggressive one and the girl the little cuddlesome one who wanted to be the baby of the family, although she was only six minutes younger. It was fine by him for her have that role.

Thank you. My favorite part of writing is when a reader can share in the memory. Your words are always an encouragement. Thanks you for being there.

Hahaha... what a great way to try and convince children to go back to their own beds, but you were outsmarted. This is an appealing, well-written vignette of family life and communication with kids. The dialogue is integrated effectively.

Yes! Please do... doom and gloom is rampant and I'd rather be smiling.

This is a very well written and very enjoyable story you have penned for the family story - fiction contest. You used great descriptive words and the dialogue was really great too. It sounded so real and could have been with a set of little twins hearing the loud thunder. We have a set of twin boys, but they are both grown. Our cats are a different story when it comes to thunder. They run and hide. Best wishes in the contest. Teri
