You write very nice prose! Casual, almost chatty...endearing, as though you were sharing with me over coffee. I had to double back to see that you've listed this as fiction. It's one of those stories I'd love to believe truly happened to you! (Smile.)

Thank you for this good review. My favorite fiction has always been romance, and while I've wished I could write a good novel and I've tried, it was not to be. I fell in love with poetry through teaching English classes many years, and I still love it.

I umderstand. I have several flash fiction and other short stories, but poetry has always been my first love!

What an ending! This was so nicely written and sweet! One of those everyday tales that seems to good to be true! I think your take at the prompt is GENIUS. Since your protagonist knew she was expected to fall for the boy-next-door, she turned away, allowing it to surprise HER more than anyone else. Good work, and good luck!

I enjoyed this spin on the classic boy-next-door story. Most is told as backstory as we learn how Liz and Jerry's relationship evolved. The fact that they both have a religious background ultimately brings them together. I'd like a little more dialog at the end, but overall I am rooting for these two young people. Rod
