We all have had days like these, nothing seems to matter. Once other people come around we perk up and feel alive again. Your poem has a universal appeal, creates a feeling inside of us, every word flows into the next. No reader could ask for more.

Excellent! I am a fan of the elegant font chosen too- nice touch! I love this as a depiction of what it feels like. A detachment and confusion feeling completely lost and helpless at times! Thank you!

Thank you so much for your super review. I appreciate it. You understand perfectly.

This cinquain, Lost Oneself, has the right set up and reminds the readers that this era of masking has muted our smiles, frowns, toothy grins, and sneers. We are none now by our eyes.

Thank you for your review. (It wasn't really about physical masks as we wear for Covid however. It was about the emotional masks we wear to hide our pain, so no-one can see inside our being.)

Beautiful entry for the Cinquain Poetry writing prompt contest. You followed the rules of the contest well. Beautiful presentation and imagery.
The story is very sad. I worked with victims of rape and battery for years. It was hard but rewarding.
Good luck in the contest.

Abuse is not a good thing; no matter what the circumstance or situation is. Many people have a change of personality when this happens; and they need a lot of therapy.

Such simple words, and yet telling such a sad story. So many people face abuse every day and suffer it alone, not willing to share with anyone what they are going through.

Certainly, the mask we are forced to put on continues to mask away the feelings of all. Tears, fears and smiles, anger and joy are all hidden from the public and as you well said even from ourselves. Well done, dear.

For some, emotional abuse of adults by other adults seem a little hard to understand, unless you've been through it. Depression and guilt set in and they can cause a person to allow themselves to remain in a bad situation.

I thought this was a good attempt to describe the effects of abuse. It seemed a little short though even though it was only supposed to have 5 lines, you're left wanting more of the poem. Perhaps it should be tried as a subject in a longer form.

Thank you for reviewing. Sometimes short hits hard (but maybe not this time!) Yes, it can be expanded to a longer poem,an essay, or even a book!
Comment from Dolly'sPoems
Emotional abuse can be as damaging as physical abuse and the controller tries to win each time with bullying and harsh words. This is a cycle that will never change if the victim does not make a stand by walking away. Often these people seek out people with low self esteem, those who are weak and vulnerable for manipulation, a sad and melancholy write, love Dolly x

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. Sometimes the victims are children, and they don't have the option of walking away, which makes it even worse.
