Hi Melissa,
Terrific Rondeau! I love the repeating line,
"as snow drifts down"
You cause me to think of my own childhood memories,
"Remembering my childhood where,
we threw snowballs with zeal and flair,
dear memories return en masse
as snow drifts down."
My pals and I would build snow forts, and suddenly the snowballs flew through the air, back and forth. We'd dig tunnels in 12-foot snowbanks like little moles. Our socks would slink from our feet, and gather in the toes of our boots. Our scarves would hang loosely from our red necks. And our mitts would be soaking wet. But we were having too much fun to notice.
And now I'm too old to have that kind of fun anymore. I can't even remember the last time I used a sled or toboggan, or skates for that matter.

aged sand sifts through my hourglass;
each moment is unique and rare...
as snow drifts down."
I do have a pair of snowshoes though, and I even used them once... in 2014, I think. Maybe it's time to bring them out of the closet again. We just had a big snowstorm yesterday. So finally lots of snow on the ground. I'm pooped from shoveling... (getting too old for that, too).
"I'm nestled in my easy chair,
I watch fat flakes through frosted glass
I'm mesmerized."
Really nice poem, Melissa. I'm going to put it in my library!

I'm catching up on my reviews, and I am so glad that I did not miss this one. It's so pretty. It makes me want to nestle in a chair and not move until winter is over. The repeats fall gently on the ear, much as the snow fall out the window.

Your lovely Rondeau made me miss the snow so much. I lived on the East Coast for over 30 years and now live in Florida.
I love Rondeau and other French forms for their musicality and elegance. Superb rhyming, imagery and visuals.

An enjoyable read about the snow drifting down and covering the ground. It can snow as long as I can sit by the fireplace and stay toasty warm. I saw a sweater at the store and it said. "Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow... Someplace Else!" LOL Stay healthy~

This is so pretty and reflective, like snow, actually! Here in Virginia, we had 73 degree weather for a few days and now several inches of snow, so as I read and admire your poem I am looking at our snow and enjoying both:) What I like most about your poem:
Your adjectives! Nestled, fat, ethereal, soft, subtle, aged, etc. They set the stage for great imagery.
Your specific imagery of your own sands of time compared to falling snow that you are watching. Genius!
Your poem adheres to a definite rondeau scheme but comes off loose, comfy, thoughtful and special. It's so smooth.
I haven't done a rondeau but you make me want to try!
Your poem is well done and enjoyed very much.

That's cool! Literally, lol. My adult kids used to do gymnastics' competitions near there, I think. I live in Roanoke, VA, near the Blue Ridge Mountains. The snow on the mountains is beautiful! I will attempt a rondeau this evening!
