OK Rod, you really don't like winter, but your last line fools me a bit. If you really dislike this season, then your last line should be: she's (I always thought it was Old Man Winter!) incapable of being nice LOL.

Your rhyme scheme is right on. Something you are good at and I can't fathom or master! Seem that I recall Ms. Browning but her romantic style was not my cup of English tea (-;

Regardless, your poem gives a sense of the reality of that upcoming season. Today in my neck of the woods it is about 45 and sunny. Good day for a stroll around the block.

Thanks for the tip about your poem.

Mark

Thank you, Mark, for taking the time to read and comment on my poem. I love to write poetry about all the seasons, but Winter will.always be my least favorite. Rod

I appreciate the notes on this particular form of poetry named after Browning. It has a nice rhythm and suited your topic of winter. Yes, those cold, icy winds can feel mean. But then we are surrounded by a winter wonderland- until the snow gets brown and muddy...

Thank you so much, June, for sharing and praising my poem. Browning's format is unique, mostly because of the rhyme scheme. It is a fun pattern to play with.

I love your optimistic way on the turn of nature when all that seems gloom and icy it's actualy a way of saving grace:) "Convince me Nature isn't mean,
she has remorse, some saving grace,
she's capable of being nice." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Hmm, very interesting rhyme scheme. Browning, it is okay, when you know it's coming. I like the choice of the a winter's theme. It corresponds to what many readers are currently experiencing outside their doors. Good idea for the contest. I think the member will like the extra mile you went.

Hello author, you got it right! Winter is not nice and winter is not fair. To be honest and blunt...winter is a pain in the butt. Of special note:

she has remorse, some saving grace,
she's capable of being nice.
(I hope she does and gives us a mild winter because at the price of heating oil, there's going to be a lot of cold people this winter. Keeping my fingers crossed.)

Perfect artwork choice. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck.

Thank you so much, LateBloomer, for endorsing my position. Winter is--for the most part--a pain in the butt. I am not looking forward to the next three months.

Author, I don't know who you are yet, but since we share this dislike for winter, I'll share my expression about it...Snow, the other four letter word.
And that's all folks. Good luck in the contest. LateBloomer ~ Margaret

Your poem is excellent in every respect--well-written, expressive, and very descriptive of the way people often feel when the frigid cold invades every aspect of life--when we think of warmer weather coming.
