Great Christmas story Mike. I wondered if you made up the names of those places in Tennessee since I'd never heard of them, but I see you didn't. I'm sure you weren't around in 1938 or 1935 but I thought maybe the snow storms of those years were real. I remember a few years ago when roofs collapsed in Chattanooga from heavy snow.

Hi, Beth. Well, my grandson lives in Elizabethton, and the town of Atoka is between Milan and Brownsville. I love to use real places. Thank you for your kind words!
Have a great day and Merry Christmas.

I thought it was a great Christmas story. You really illustrated how Christ would want us to live; spending the holiday helping others in a natural disaster. It's especially poignant with what happened in Kentucky last week. You also brought that magical mystical element into it when everyone gets a Christmas present from the angels. I thought the dialogue was real and emotional, the details in the imagery were strong and really brought the scene alive. Nice polish on it as well. Good enough for a magazine. estory

Hello Mike.
This is a beautifully written story of a country, old timey Christmas. I can identify with the story since I have driven through Elizabethton many times. It is a beautiful place.
The miracle of the gifts is wonderful. No one knows how to give a greater gift than God does. It is always exactly what we need and right on time.
Good luck in the contest.
Robert

This is one of the sweetest Christmas stories I've ever read. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. Good luck, though I doubt you will need it.
A wind gust rattles around the store, and she adds. "The wind is back also." (comma needed after 'adds')
"It's like music to my ears," Tabby smiles. (period needed after 'ears')

This has been a very trying time for my family, Mike.
The week before Thanksgiving and ongoing now. Rhonda in the hospital and then Mark. Then Rhonda again, in a coma intubated for five long days and nights not knowing if she would live or not, She was in Las Vegas and we are in Ely not being in touch very often because she is in ICU. Prayers have been unending for her safe return. She is awake now. Has her own room as of last evening. Hopefully she will be home for Christmas. Prayer works. He will never forsake you. Thank God for his blessings. Good job. Lovely story. Nancy:)

A really great story for this contest, good luck. This story while set in hills of Tennesse is in a Dickensian style that reminds us of the value of community and love within the community. Great job.

It isn't often that I have any sixes left by Tuesday of the week, but I can say that I sure am glad I had one left for this special piece. Thanks for sharing Papa Mike, and I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!

When thinks of it, God is way in credit when it comes to giving and receiving, for certain, as they say, we can't out give God. Oh what a lovely story, I think these miracles are what's needed, but God is good irrespective, well done, blessings Roy

A story that held my interest all the way. The descriptions were well done, this reader could "see and feel" the storm and cold.
As a Christmas story, it had love, family, community, and best of all a miracle.
One correction:
There's no Chrylser, Packard, or Studebaker is traveling today. Should read:
There is no Chrysler, Packard, or Studebake traveling today.
Thank you for the story.
Regards,
Mary
