This is a fun story. I like the way you connect it all together at the end. It's quite a coincidence but not impossible. Well done on this nicely written piece and best of luck with the competition

Thank you so much for your time and review. Not impossible, no ... truth is stranger than fiction sometimes! (However this is fiction, and I wanted an implied happy ending!) Lol.

Catches the reader's interest from the first paragraph through the final sneeze. The story itself is quirky and the sneeze amplifies that quirkiness. The odds are so small of a father & son being discovered in this relationship, that it does even occur to the reader until that last sentence. What a imaginative and fertile story source is your mind. Well written and is an excellent contest entry. ann

Thank you so much Ann. What a lovely review!
My husband, son, and my son's three daughters (even the baby) sneeze when they go into the sunshine ... that prompted my imagination. Lol.

I just loved reading this it had a lovely sentimental or even romantic theme running through it which I did enjoy. It left me with a lovely warm glow at the end with all kinds of possible ideas as to what else would come of this situation should the story continue. Thanks for sharing. Kooky

Thank you so much for reviewing, much appreciated! The punch-line implies or suggests that Robert may well be the donor father ... so, being fiction, they will marry, and live happily ever after, and you can enjoy that lovely warm glow for quite a while!

Great story for the writing prompt. A virtual six. A delightful and unexpected implied twist at the end makes the story. I enjoyed the read. Have a great Christmas, Wendy.

This is an excellent entry into the family story-fiction. The reader absolutely believes the child is also Jack's because it has been such a pleasant story and delightful meeting of two people. How could the three sneezes not mean exactly what they seemed to mean?

Well, that was certainly a twist! Holy moly! They were already on their way to a romance, but this is an added bonus. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Oh my goodness, what an unexpected ending! At first I was like...that's the end? I don't get it. I was hoping for a happy ending. Then, I re-read it and bam! Jack has Robert's family trait! This is a great entry for the contest because it supports worthy causes...friendship, elderly care and attention, single moms, kids who do not know one parent, and possible some blooming love!
Well done and thoroughly enjoyed!

LOL A very interesting twist at the end of this writing prompt entry. I enjoyed reading and it caused me to smile at the possibilities.

"They are good for each other," Linda thought happily. (thought should be in italics.)

There might be some Canadian blood there somewhere too. The sun often makes me sneeze. lol This is a wonderful story, Wendy. It flows nicely, and you build up our interest, thinking it might be a love story. But then, Jack thinks Linda is married. Then another twist, and we're left speculating on the future. I really enjoyed reading this. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much Judy - I am glad you enjoyed. So, is Robert the father of Jack??

You're welcome, Wendy. That's the question, isn't it? Sounds like it.

Wendy,

I always like stories with happy ever afters. *smile* Those are mostly the kind I write (when I finally write prose!)

So this obviously appealed to me. The question is how long it takes for the CHARACTERS to figure out what all us readers now know. Hmmm... Interesting~!

PS.
Out of all the family submissions I've read so far, I like yours best -- shhhh....

Thanks! And good luck!

Thank you so much Robyn. Glad you enjoyed it! (Yes, I wonder how long they took to jump to the one-in-a million conclusion?!) Thanks too for your good wishes. Much appreciated
