This is an awesome humorous poem. It has a great flow and rhyme scheme. Very well put together. Great photo to compliment your poem. Good luck in the contest.

Solid work--can't find anything to pick at this one. Great job all around. I like the rhyming convention you employed instead of doing it for every line, I think this helps push the story as well as conform as a poem. Strong language and vocabulary, puncture great. Thanks for sharing this one!

Splendidly irreverent humour. Patrick McGee is the sort of bloke that makes me think that going to hell might be the better option. Definitely a livelier place and more laughs to be had there than in the other place, I'll be bound.

I found the humor in this poem to be natural. The rhythm is wonderful, with Satan attempting to trade a soul with God. The author's use of a hilarious one-sided conversation allowed me to feel as if I were eavesdropping on a real phone call. The story progressed to a great conclusion, making me a fan of the author.

This was great! I love the rhyming scheme you used it reminded me of Dr. Sue's in a way. The humor was great. Your poem rhymed , made sense, and made me laugh. Good luck in the contest, I think you have written the winner.

What an entertaining poem! pat McKee is a fantastic character. There was only one area that made me question you went from taking him off the devils hands to the devil using him while he went on vacation. I had a time wrapping my head around that. But the writing itself was great!

Thanks, Cathy. He's driving the devil crazy, and because of the stress, the devil needs a break in the action. He feels that Patrick's personality is just right to run things for awhile. .

Hi Paul,
I really enjoyed this poem from start to finish. The meter was mixed up a bit, but the humor and rhymes made up for that easily. Of course, right away, I thought of the intro to the Book of Job...
"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it." Job 1:6-7
I find it incredible that Satan has access to God's throne room. But I am persuaded to believe that he doesn't have access to it. God summoned him that particular day, so he only had restricted access. Right away Satan began accusing Job. "Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face."
Bottom line, there was an exchange between God and Satan. So your poem imitates that with a marvelous story. It could be used as an entry in a "Story in a Poem" contest. What to do with Patrick McKee??? Satan doesn't want him. I don't believe in a place called "Purgatory". I don't believe there are any second chances, like there are in certain lotteries (playing your losing numbers, for example). But it works for your story... basically Satan is asking God to send Paddy to the Purg. "Squeeze him in, please!" It sends a message... are there people sent to Hell that stick in Satan's gullet? ...people that he just can't handle? It's amusing to think about. And you've done an excellent job with it.
Good Luck! And thanks for sharing!
Cheers,
Kimbob

I wonder how many jokes are made about God and the Devil having conversations about who should stay and who should go, etc. This one was very entertaining. Thanks. :)

Thanks, Modee. Sometimes those conversations are not jokes.
