Life is precious and begins at conception. America is going down some dangerous roads which will lead to our destruction. Abortion is not to kill blacks. It's to line the pockets of those wanting to sell baby parts. So wrong. On all levels.

Thanks for your review and comments. Abortion in America did in fact start out with eugenics as one motivation, and to keep black people in line - this quite well documented in Sanger's own writings, and desperately hidden in the closet by Planned Parenthood, which continues to not tell the entire truth about it. It is not that unlike Herod's and Pharaoh's attempts in the Bible to kill off Jewish babies. Selling baby part came later, and there is a pretty good probability of those baby parts being from black babies or immigrant babies intercepted at the southern border.

What is going on?
Do you recognize this planet anymore?
I don't.
It's like hell rules.
Not only do these oligarchs kill babies.
They do things to children that that you don't read even in dark fiction.
It doesn't take much to see where this is heading.
Great voice.

Thank you JWSteele for your exceptionally generous six-star review. I have not kept up-to-date with the news on child abductions (assuming that is what you are referring to), though I do know one guy who tells me it is happening in northern New Hampshire. One of my brothers was very skeptical and looked into the details he alleged, and said it actually checked out. I don't think these ones were politically connected, but, I will get back to you if I find out more. It is a lot easier in many ways to save kids in the "Third World" than here.

A controversial subject and abortion is upsetting. I do believe women should be able to choose and their rights should not be taken from them, every circumstance is different and we can't generalise. Congrats on your win, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly for you review. Honestly I would rather focus resources on keeping Nepali girls out of the sex trade, by giving them an education, than trying to spend literally 1000x those resources trying to convince someone in the West not to abort their kid. For unknown reasons, I woke up thinking about the latter the day that I penned this poem.

I do not take a fixed legal position on MOST abortions. There are times it even appears morally preferable, e.g. terminal genetic conditions. I agree with you that agency matters, and also, I think women deserve better than abortion. The problem I have with Planned Parenthood is their historical and present-day systemic eugenics attitudes and practices, and pervasive dishonesty about it. Babies with my skin color and darker, all over the world, are tangibly valued less, and an industry exists to turn the full-term dark-skinned babies into involuntary organ donors. These babies already have dreams, and I figure their rights should not be taken from them either. If Black Lives Matter for real, subsidize their mothers to stay home and let these babies survive to vote for, or become, the next black President. Thanks again for reaching out.

OMG! I was shocked at first, then read your notes. I didn't know this was going on. (At 79, I no longer stay current with changes.) I'm just know that I'm ready to meet my maker any day. I re read the poem. The word 'us' is pertinent here. It's so sad to see that racism is still alive and well. I shudder for the future of my grandchildren.

Thank you Spitfire. I think things have not changed all that much recently in the US -- just the language has. Racism/prejudice will always exist in some form or another, as it is a very human thing to do. The demographics might not be quite as stark as they used to but yes, darker babies always have and will die at a higher rate than lighter ones, both in and out of the womb. One of the best things abroad to do is give young girls a decent education, so their impoverished parents will respect them enough not to sell them off. And, provide them with appropriate hygiene when they mature, so they are not shunned or leave school permanently out of public embarrassment. Tangible things that increase their dignity and knowledge will prevent a lot of mistreatment and abortions in the future. Your grandchildren will hopefully live full lives and do much good!

    Best to you, H

Exceptional indeed! You are a master of clever sarcasm. And the flat EKG line is also a nice visual addition. My only other comment is that the picture looks like it is a proposal rather than a pregnancy announcement, so maybe a couple looking at a sonogram could be a substitute

Thank you so much for the outstanding review and six stars. Your idea is a good one. I initially went with an image of a heartbeat starting, to match the one ending. And then I came across the heart image, and liked the subconscious idea of two heartbeats connecting to form a new one. So I went for contrast and shock value over the more literal depiction. I might change it though! Thank you for the suggestion.

This one really hits you in the face. I think you accomplished your aim and I have to give you credit for standing up for what you believe in and confronting people with this systemic murder of helpless babies that we seem to accept as a civil right nowadays. It isn't about the woman's body; it's about the baby's body. estory

Thank you estory for your kind and complimentary review. Yes, it would be interesting to see what our ancestors think about abortion centuries from now, when they look back through time. In this piece I tried to avoid political debate just by showing the joining of heartbeats to create a new one, and the stark reality of ending it.

Thank you for being brave enough to share this. I know it is not their actual ad, but probably represents their mission better than some of their usual ads. God gives life, and it should be valued.

Thank you Anne for your kind review. It certainly seems consistent with their historic efforts, enlisting ministers to quell rebellious members who protested race-selective abortions. It will be interesting to see what later generations think about all this.

OMG! You really socked it ! I find it a sarcastic kind of, dark humour. I don't want to be judgemental, but writers need to be harsh sometimes to get their point across. Congrats on winning the contest.

I thought this was very effective as a bit of sarcastic irony. I have four adopted children and all of us feel strongly grateful that their birth mothers did not surrender to that most selfish option. Thank you for this. MM

Wow, four adopted kids! Your life must have been quite an adventure. I come from a family of five (not adopted). We do work with orphanages too. Thank you for your kind review. -H

Ouch!! You certainly say just what you think and believe. I will not comment on the base of this work as My thoughts are a jumble. You created a very stark and harsh display and those reading should do so with an open mind.

Thank you Sherry for your kind review. It is a tough subject, with no easy solutions, especially considering that PP is now fairly diversified in the sorts of essential services it provides. Like you perhaps, I have conflicted feelings. Best, H
