Can't say I've ever heard it either: "The idiom, "all stoved up" was one we had not heard" I love that you picked this one. I love that you've narrowed it down to a regional dialect. The ending is cute.

I enjoyed reading your contribution to the book, Carol. You explained your chosen idiom well. I loved learning about the history associated with it. I've heard this phrase used many times00esp by my grandmother, but never knew any of the background. I like the image and the smooth flow of your words.

This addition to the idiom collection, All Stoved Up, explains that use of the word and where it originated. Not sure that the past tense use is necessary, but then it's an idiom, not a grammar test. Right? Nice.

I've heard this one before from people whose muscles are so sore it hurts to try to move. I always thought that it meant I can't hardly move around because of the pain. It is the feeling I get after working out in arobic but I've now told anyone I'm stove up. LOL this is good one.

Definitely an interesting picture, Carol. I loved your chat with the farmer, it certainly explained a lot. If every I write one day about a farmer and hay, you can be darn sure that I will write 'I'm all stoved up.' Great job and immensely enjoyed. Blessings.

This is one idiom I did know. My Grandfather would use it quite often.
These idioms are lots of fun...you never know where certain sayings come from or what their roots might be. I didn't realize the barrel stave was part of this, but it makes sense!
