A sad 8-word poem that speaks volumes about the cruel society. The only shameful thing about mental illness is the stigma attached to it.A lack of understanding when it comes to these disorders can leave sufferers feeling isolated and hopeless. I liked your poem. Good luck!

What an excellent contest entry! You managed to successfully use only 8 words to emphasize the stigma around mental illness. It's time for people to get a grip and realise it's an illness and needs to be treated with love and care. Not ridicule. Very well done, Opal. Good luck in the contest! :) Sandra

Welcome, dear Poet!! We really must end this silliness. Some people with mental illness cope quite well (me for example). This 8-word poem is so well presented and the artwork shows how some sufferers feel - a jumble in the mind. Stop the stigma!!!

Thank you for posting this it is so important that mental illness should and the stigma attached to it should be ended. There are so many people suffering with mental illness and never tell anyone, or seek help especially men. Kooky.

Stained with stigmata
Persona non grata

Nice... very nice.
I know a little about that area of perception. I used to be a psych nurse.
Keep writing. Good job.

You have said a mouthful in only six words! Labels can hurt people and are hard to get rid of. When I was a child I was painfully shy, but was labeled...stuck up. It hurt bad. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

A six word rhyming poem. That's a good one. The picture goes very well with the poem. With everything that is going on in the world today, many of us suffer from mental illness to a certain degree.

Quite a universal truth! In some parts of the world mental health is not given the attention it deserves and patients are abandoned to their own devices. Consequently, it makes it difficult for people to seek for medical help even when they are sure of issues with their mental health. The stigma stays. Well done, dear Rose.

nicely said, well done. eight simple words captures the mood of mental illness and the sad stigma it still casts on society for those in its grip. lat four words pack a punch.
