' Crosses ', is an exceptionally well-written piece. Nothing good ever came from war. It was a privilege to read and review a poem of this standard. To me this is definitely a six! I look forward to seeing your next post.

A tribute to the brave and the fallen heroes who gave their lives, many so young and only at the beginning of their lives, for the cause of freedom in wars, wherever they occurred on our planet earth - the pain and grief following their loss is almost tangible

I love this eloquent and poignant poem, Roy. The rhyme and imagery is excellent, but the message is beautifully voiced. This is a poem that I will read more than once.

Roy, your image of the cross with decaying person upon the cruel cross was hard to bear. Roy, with your perfect rhyming poem, tells us we not only mourn. We should not forget to remmber our heors who died for our country.

I didn't manage to write one for our heroes this year, so good to read one for the servicemen, as well from this perspective.
Well done.
Have a pleasant week.
My best wishes.

i think it was a great veterans day salute. You had the wonderful image of the crosses in the field that really conjures up all the pain and sense of loss, and you articulated those feelings of those left behind here, the wives and mothers, who are left with only these crosses, as memories of their loved ones who lived and breathed among us. estory

This is a bit of a tear jerker for me. The illustration you chose pairs perfectly with your words. In fact, it set the stage for your poem. Well written.

Your ability to rhyme flawlessly verse after verse and never lose your perfect meter is remarkable to me Roy. This is such an appropriate poem, so sad but well deserved by the young and the brave. Thank you for remembering them.

In the line ... But cries still mutter in the trees
And fades (fade) not on the gentle breeze.., I think you have an s to delete on fade.

The brave men and women of the military should always be honoured for their sacrifice, and these military quotes are the perfect words. They risk their lives to protect our freedom, it is a selfless act of valour that is done without asking anything in return. You have penned another heartfelt poem. Words touch the reader's heart. Thanks for sharing!
