This is a wonderful tribute to your friend, Roy. He must have been an extraordinary person to stir up such emotion from his friend. Well done. I'm sorry for your loss God Bless his family and friends. Nancy:)

Beautiful and well-written poetry with a pleasant flow that enhances the quality of the poem. The rhyme is good and so is the rhythm. Always beautiful!

A fine tribute to your friend. It's odd how we take pen in hand when a loved one dies. Those poems, for me, come easily. I have written too many of them, but I guess that's what comes with getting older.

( I just lost a hundred or so words reviewing "Farewell" because I did a search in the midst of writing. Argh!) This poem is very carefully rhymed and put to meter; iambic tetrameter can become sing-song, and perhaps some irregularities in form would justify themselves by supplying surprise and perhaps a more stinging recognition. But even within the rigidity of this form, which Owen has employed skillfully, it may be possible to introduce the unexpected: this is what Shakespeare achieved in his sonnets, often about very similar things but things refreshed by new and sometimes eccentric word choices and his selection of analogies. I am remiss in my own reading. I should revisit the Bard and also perhaps Gerard Manley Hopkins for instructions on how to kindle strong feeling within a piece. With all that said, I am awarding this a five because it is well done. However, it needs flint and steel to become more real.

It is so difficult to bid goodbye to beloved friends when they are snatched away so unexpectedly. My heart goes out to you in this sudden loss.
You have written a marvelous tribute to a good man who lived his life in a God-honoring way. There is no better way to live. Your poem is beautiful Roy. I hope you shared it with his family.
