The chipmunks look so much like squirrels. Like your caring poem, feeding the chipmunks is a great hobby. I am sure that they feel close to your hubby and his surroundings.

My goodness, there are so many different types of poetry I don't know how you poets keep track of them all. I was taught some poetry in grade school back in the fifties but it was all about rhyming then. Oh well, whatever kind this one is, I love it. It is nicely done and the chipmunk is so cute. Best of luck in the contest.

"Chipmunk Sanctuary"
Many many years ago I would have in my backyard chipmunks and squirrels and other occasional visitors scaring about.
I would put seed out there for the birds and squirrels will get into it for the sunflower seeds and make a mess.
But the Blue Jays would also help clean up the sunflower seeds.
But when it comes to Chipmunks they were my favorite.
I got to know each and everyone that they lived under my deck and where the exit hole was.
My cat also was very observative.
My favorite was chippy with the small tail that's all I can tell him from the rest.
He is also my little baby girl Dana's favorite.
One summer day my cat push decided to capture chippy!
Has he had him in his mouth and I believed he was bringing him up as a gift and possibly kill it I yelled at him!
'Puss drop chippy right away!'
And of course that's exactly what the cat did and that was probably almost 30 years ago.
These are the memories that we tend to cherish.
...
This was short but well Written rich in Theme and Imagery.
And, thanks for sharing.

Love this one. It's amazing the way animals can draw us in and captivate us with their simple ways. Besides bringing joy, they let us forget our troubles at least for a little while. Well written.

This is so cute and well written. I love the photo. Nature is so healing. One thing if you could make the font a little larger I would really appreciate it, in the advanced editor. All the best Laura.

We don't have chipmunks, but many, many squirrels. They drive the dog crazy, of course, but I love how they live in our trees and keep us entertained. Thanks for this one this evening. :)

Your husband must have a lot of chipmunk fans. These creatures know when they are being cared for and appreciate it. In cold weather their food supply is uncertain, so the must scurry when the see the seed that's been put out for them. I like your description of their tails being erect as they enjoy. I'd never heard of "Gogyoshi" but you did a great job with the form. judi

Thank you for reading about our chipmunk sanctuary. The chipmunks and other animals in our yard give my husband a focus and a purpose, in addition to the indoor cats and guinea pigs. Elaine

I enjoyed reading this poem about chipmunks and the feeding of them.
Animals, like nature, have a way of feeding our souls and bringing a positive light to us. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful piece.
