Gypsy,

A nice poem for your haiku/haiga entry. I have no idea if the male or female starling sings better. As such, to keep it neutral, consider "hiding behind ..." I do know that the male of various animals are normally the most colorful. Your chosen image may be a male starling.

This is a lovely poem and the picture is equally nice. It's the nicest thing I've ever heard said about starlings, too. I like the bit about the moon hiding behind pink clouds. Nice work as always.

There is much joy in this ambient Haiga and I enjoyed the outcome here as the summer's magic brings joyful tunes from these sweet birds, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I can see why the staring was joyful, 'cause he watched the artist while she/he was singing a love song.

Another fine poem, Gypsy--and judging by the picture, it could say something about pooping down your neck--oh, but that's more my style, so never mind!

This is just adorable. I love bird poems, and this one is a lovely mixture of oxymoron-like opposites.

Haiga is one of my favourite forms, but I haven't prepared on in so long, I fear I may have forgotten how.

Great job with this beauty. :))

Such a pretty haiga poem. I always love your selection of pictures. And starlings are black so the blue version is very artistic and easier to see in the dark. I guess starlings can move around and sing at night but I don't think they are nocturnal.

I am making it all up as I go, Helen. Hah hah hah .. you keep me on my toes. I read about starlings, they are amazing little creatures. They mate for life and father and mother work side by side to raise their young ones. They are very smart and can imitate sounds of people and alarms ... etc... The picture says that is a starling. Some starlings have blue steel color feathers. Some come from Asia, Africa, and Europe but we have them in the USA too.

Thank you very much, Helen. I appreciate that you took the time to read and review my poem.

ps. I wrote a Halloween story for the contest. I would like to know what you think, if you have the time.

Oh, the story about the starlings in the US is interesting. They are not native but someone brought them to the US from England because Shakespeare wrote of them. Now they flourished all over and probably put other wildlife out of balance. Sigh.

What a beautiful poem for a very nice Haiga painting. A blue song bird sang a gorgeous song to the moon. I was going to write a songbird and the moon Haiku yesterday. I did write one and post it. We do inspire each other.

Well done.
