Liz,

Absolutely, 100%, totally agree with you. It's baffling. Some people who say they are so dedicated to their masks will toss them off at the MOST inopportune times. OR they wear their mask just beneath their noses. That one drives me crazy. If you're a mask-wearer, do it. Makes no sense.

Thanks!

They make us wear masks ... unless we're eating. Why bother wearing masks at all then? Corona doesn't take a "lunch break" when we do. I recently went to a masked art "reception" where no food was served, which, though disappointing, complied with common sense.

Masking and vaxxing are hot-button issues that have wreaked ugly dissension.

I'm with you--it's maddening to see the half-masking.

That ending is very odd. Why have the mask rule in the first place? Even the meandering performers posed a risk. I believe the whole thing was planned poorly. I hope you had a mask. This is on e for the books.
Respectfully, Jan

The rules of masks on and masks off is quite arbitrary it seems. People decide the rules aren't meant for them or maybe it is depending on the occasion. Your post tells it exactly like it is... even by the organizers.

Enjoy the preformance but dine at your own risk. Yes, it seems that there is something a little unsettling about this masking arrangement. Everywhere lately about half are masked and half not. Many of the ones who have been vaccinated have lost their fear.

:):):) This is happening everywhere. It has crossed all list of idiocy where I live. People just want to show their respect and obey the law at the beginning. It is very disconcerting. Soon thereafter, they freak out Fortunately we have a good cure for Corona which won't make you hit the hospital. Take care. Health is wealth.Cheers to that!

How funny, I can remember a time when a mask was never required, I find them a little claustrophobic, some find them most awful, beautifully written Liz, blessings Roy

It's insanity right now. My town masks are optional. The neighboring town they practically chase you with a mallet if you dare enter anywhere "enclosed" unmasked. Two town over it's masks masks masks...in, out, walking, sitting... AND YET...while you must mask to enter a bar or restaurant of course you can remove it for the duration! Doesn't much matter anyway-- Half the folks I see are wearing the masks under their nose...or around their ears but under their chin. Not an exact science, this whole thing. Makes me Corona-Crazy!

For sure! Today's news of Colin Powell's death, due to complications from the coronavirus-although he was vaccinated (and had multiple myeloma and was 84)--is already being weaponized by left and right. One says "What's the point of masks and jabs if you die anyway?" The other says "This is why you should wear masks and get vaccinated, to protect the vulnerable!"-- I wish they'd wait a beat, so his widow could grieve without all of this background noise.--

How crazy! That boggles the mind. We are very cautious here still, just easing out of lockdown but people are on the whole sensible. Most wear masks. The benefit is that we have lost few than 2000 people. The economy looks like picking up relatively quickly as people want to help businesses get back on their feet. There are still a few anomalies though.
If people take masks off for eating they need a bit of distance. If there were only a couple of dozen why not space the chairs in three larger circles? Coronavirus doesn't pause while people eat. Let's hope nobody in that group you mentioned had corona virus!

Yes true. We here are less divided about the issues. Most people are choosing vaccination and the vast majority comply with mask wearing when necessary. I hate seeing so much division especially when it divides family members. So sad. But there is always a tension between what are perceived as personal ?rights? versus what is done for community well being, even if it infringes on our personal ? freedoms?.

That's my issue also. We wear masks in church which makes singing a little difficult but considering how Covid spread in a choir rehearsal in a city not far from us, we keep them on. But then, there's communion and we have to briefly remove. I chuckled at all the care they took in the performance and then they served cookies and punch! Lol. Oh well. Hope it was fun!

I know. And I wish we didn't have to have the dissension - just accept each other's preferences. We were at our neighbor's. Her friend hopped a plane to get here so we wore our masks even though they didn't think it necessary.

I've faithfully worn my mask when it has been required. My mom is elderly and lives in an assisted living facility. My brother has been doing chemotherapy since August. I would feel bad if I exposed either of them to avoid. That being said I also agree with what you've said. Today I attended a wake. The sign on the door said masks required. They had a box of masks available if you didn't have one. When we went into the inner room, most of the people did not have on a mask, including the deceased's family. People milled around going out to the lounge area, the washroom, and a play area for kids with no masks on. Of course a year ago there wouldn't have been a wake at all. The pandemic has been mishandled from the beginning and I still wonder how something so important became so divisive, even between family members.
