God works in mysterious ways. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. You told a complete story using only a few words. I enjoyed reading and wish you the best of luck with the contest.

Thank you for reading and commenting so kindly. Can?t help mentioning God speaks very plainly in some instances but as naughty children we ignore, me included. 😀

How sad for Sid and Shirley that they were not able to occupy their dream home and may have left them in debt.
However, the story does have a happy ending as their dashed hopes led to their building being used in the worship of God.
You are right they are probably are smiling.
Good luck in the contest.
Regards,
Mary

Thank you! Slight correction, the building was not their home, but was always intended to be a church.

Well done, I remember hearing about an evangelist who held a evangelical rally, and was incredibly disappointed because he'd had one convert, a young boy called David Livingstone, Abraham was given the very place called Canaanland, but he and Isaac and Jacob remained nomads until Joshua, yep, we just do as we're told, I could share a personal story about that very thing, but that will remain another story. Beautifully written Denis, blessings Roy

This is definitely a bit of sad story friend. They built a home they weren't allowed to live in and have since passed away, that is very sad!
They do say that the Lord moves in mysterious ways though.

Thank you! One correction; it was a church, not their home.

It's a great story that starts sad and ends with a happiness. Yes. God does things like that. We don't always understand first and then it all makes sense.

Well done and good luck in the contest.

Dream differed (deferred?) I see you fixed the typo!

Heartwarming and inspirational. Well narrated. This charming story works well as nonfiction flash!

Thanks for catching the misspelling in the title! I feel like a MAROON for that one. This flash is supposed to be a true story so hoping your caution about plot doe not apply.
Thanks again for saving my image as a terribly intelligent humble person! :)

Apologies--you are correct--per contest rules, true flash can be "inspiring"--you nailed it!
