Totally agree. Fanstory keeps us busy so I don't have time to do other things like spending money on a new house or something. I do like to travel which is something I like to spend on.
Well done.

If only we would take notice of these words of wisdom instead of accumulating possessions 'We can't take them when leaving earth'- thanks for reminding us

A wonderful poem with great end rhyming. How right you are. Love, family, friendship and health are so much more meaningful than material possessions. I think many of us aspire to leave something of ourselves behind even if it's only precious memories. Cheers Franky

Hi Jay,
Wiser words were never spoken! You speak from years of experience so the reader would be wise to heed. I found out a new word from your excellent poem...
"ennoble". It means: lend greater dignity or nobility of character to.
So I learned several good things to tuck away in my mind for safe keeping.
Thank you for sharing :))

I think the older we get the less emphasis we put on possessions as we realise that we can't take any of them with us and they will be left for others to riffle through, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Most excellent poem and timely subject, in this age of clutter, while the storage business is booming. My mother may have to go into a nursing home -- even though she's very fit, mentally -- because of physical disabilities, and she's very challenged to clean out all her stuff. So are we, simultaneously, while we face plumbing and other issues that overwhelm us, and we just have to downsize, or else. It can't be done overnight, and it makes us wish we never let it get out of hand!
I'm praying for grace, courage, wisdom and strength.
Thanks for this wonderful piece.

It does seem a little crazy doesn't it. Yet if you look back through the ages... you have kings, Queens, royalty, lords etc. being buried with there wealth in the hope of paying there way into the highest of high kingdoms.
Faith seems to be the payment required these days, I'm not one for things I'm more about experiences. I Always enjoy my visits to you and yours friend.

You have been true to your decades of experience and your preference for poetry that rhymes. Your poem reminds me of the song, Favorite Things (The Sound of Music). What you have said so poetically ring true. The important things in life are the intangibles and it is for these things that we desire to be remembered.
I struggled a bit maintaining the rhythm on the last lines, especially in the last stanza. This seemed to correct itself when I re-read the line, but the very last line remained an outlier.

So much wisdom here. It makes me think how the things worth the most in this life are the same as the things worth most in the next. I don't think I've ever thought of it in quite that way before. Thanks for the wisdom and the thought. Also the poem flows very well, almost like in conversation but still poetic. Lovely.

Yes, people can let themselves slip into the mindset that possessions are the key to a happy life; their desire for more and more overshadows their need for other people. Your poem is very moving and wise.
