This seems to be the end product of a round of "Chinese Whispers". that's a game where everyone starts off with the one statement and after it has been whispered along the line about 9 or 10 times you see what the end story is and how it differs from the original one. Some one has had a major flight of fancy
in this case, haven't they? Consumed a large Llama????
Well, that really takes the cake!! cheers Cass

This was just as Scott told it to me! Hence, fact=>fiction=>fact.
Indeed, Scott likened the exaggeration to what we call the telephone game!

Hah! Liz!
What a hoot!
Actually, a truthful hoot!
Used to conduct an exercise in truth when I taught sociology... the one where I whispered a series of facts into a student's ear, and then that listener passed the "same" series of facts into a another student's ear, and so on.
By the time the last student - regardless the number in a class - openly expressed what had been whispered, nothing, and I mean nothing was every accurate... Quite the human condition, yes?

Thanks for the smile!

Thanks for getting me a ribbon-- you are magic #26--did you read this on account of noting the banner ad at the bottom of the screen, or was it just a coincidence?
reply by Katherine M. (k-11) on 15-Oct-2021
The banner ad flagged me to it, and from the title I thought it would be you. I might have found it anyway, but I'm very receptive to the banner ads

    Good to know--it was at 24--I put 2 banners--got 1 more review--another banner--got yours!

Gossip sure spreads fast in your area of Massachusetts! Somebody kicked up a stink about that hole, and it wasn't a skunk. Scott seems like such a nice, decent person, and yet the rumors seem to swirl around him like clouds of dust. This wouldn't be one of your versions of hyperbole, would it? Not that I would blame you -- you are creative, indeed! By the way, they're a lovely grizzly bear pair.

Ha! Yes, the old telephone game. It does take on a life of its own. Very funny! God bless you, Liz.

Thank you for selecting my picture! It looks great alongside your intriguing narrative. Your story is short but succinct. It leaves me wanting to read more about the experiences of more people who have had contact in whatever manner with the bear.

I'm a writer as well as an artist and I have several poems and stories in FanStory. I'd be pleased if you took a look and let me know what you think.

So true
Llama means why in Hebrew.
Never could get why they call that animal why.
Any way what I really wanted to grumble about is my last reviewer albeit a newcomer giving 3 stars means good right?
But soul destroying,
Considering the good comments.
Thanks for lending an ear.:-))Z.

As to a 3-star review from a new member--heed the words, not the stars--she probably is associating it with a 3-star (fine!) restaurant.

Wow, what a story! Isn't it amazing how these things get started? People take the smallest detail and blow it up into a front page story! I'm sure it happens everywhere. Still, I have to think that your day to day life is much more interesting than mind! I really did see a young bear in our blueberry field just below the house once and one time a moose walked past our kitchen window. Too many people have moved into the area now and it's rare to even see deer. Great story.

Alright, now you don't get off this easy this time. What parts are real and what parts of this story are fake new? A bear in Scott's back yard? It would be a skinny bear hanging out in my back yard, because he wouldn't be eating anything but poop and tennis shoes. My butts would be gone. Thanks for sharing.

Did you ever play that memory game as a kid, where someone made something up, whispered it to the next kid sitting in the circle and it passed like that until the first person got it back, completely different? That's what this story reminds me of. I guess adults still do that. lol Well done. Thanks for sharing, Liz.
