Where love is, God is ever-present. After all, God is love. True love flourishes, come rain or shine. Being deeply in love with someone gives you strength. Love your 6-word poem. Good luck!

Yes, you are absolutely right. The Bible says in 1 John 4:16 that God is love. Everything you said is true.
Thank you, Seshadri, for your beautiful review, the five stars and your kind comments. I'm so happy that you love my poem. May God bless you, my friend.

"Sweet, Faithful Love", is short, succinct and heart-warming. With a minimum of words this talented poet has told it as it is. Woven through each line are the golden threads of truth. Good luck with the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

Thank you, dear Duchess, my friend, for your beautiful and touching review, for the six shining stars and for your caring remarks. I appreciate your kindness, in asking how we're doing. Life has been difficult, to be honest -- we have many problems, especially with the conditions in our apartment; and my mother may have to go into a nursing home. She needs 24-hour care, and she can't afford to continue paying for it. In New Jersey, the government doesn't cover it, but they will cover nursing home care, when a person's money runs out. So now she's preparing to move out, which makes me sad. I'm not strong enough to care for her myself. I just hope she can get into a place that's close enough for me to visit often (my husband and I live in New York).
Please remember us in your prayers. There are other challenges we're facing, but I won?t give you the entire list!
May God bless you, and thank you again for reading, reviewing and caring.
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo

You are very fortunate to have such a great marriage and a loving and dedicated husband. 17 years is a long time and you've made it through thick and thin, as the proverb goes.

A beautiful, well presented poem, great imagery, visuals and I love the photo! Thank you for your scriptural references too.

Hugs, EM

Short and sweet--spot-on for the theme. As to your note--why did it take you 17 years to decide? Glad you at least had another 17 years--and hopefully another 17 and ...

Thanks, Liz, for your lovely review, the five stars and even your curiosity. Why did it take me so long to decide? Well, we had four children (plus my cousins' baby) in our bridal party. The four rode with us in our limo, and rounding up that figure, one of them pipes up, "Why'd it have to take you 20 years? Couldn't it just have taken you 10 years?" SO FUNNY! One of the flower girls answered, "It's love, guys!"
Getting back to the real answer: preconceived notions. I had a certain image in my mind of the guy I should be with, and I just didn't think he was that guy. It took a lot of experience and maturity for me to realize that our relationship transcended all of that, and I wasn't ready to trade what we had, for what I thought I should have. Plus, I realized that marriage was not about "getting a guy," but about "becoming a family with someone" -- regardless of whether that "family" ever produced children, which it didn't (partly as a function of how much time had already passed by).
Thanks so much for your kind wishes. God bless you.
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo

    Work that into a story!
reply by the author on 11-Oct-2021
Thanks, Liz! You know, that could happen. I had the passing thought that I could use it for something, and actually copied my comment offline and saved it, for future use (before you even suggested it) ... in some context or other ... as you said, I'd have to "work that into" a story.
Sometimes I've thought about an autobiography, although the thought seems massive. Beth Shelby is doing a wonderful job, going chapter by chapter.
As a single person until the age of 46, the emphasis would be rather different. But as Gilda Radner (sp?) loved to say, "It's always something!" That something doesn't always have to be something bad.
But I really should be writing more. Just look at what happens, when I get started :-)
That's one of the things I love about this site. You really can't beat it, for mutual encouragement. Not that I've tried many others, but at this point, I don't need to.

Mary Kay,
Thanks for sharing your poem, and the footnotes are appreciated as well. While the apostle Paul was fine without having a wife, most of the world has benefited from having a loving relationship with a spouse. My wife and I met in high school and have been married for forty nine years. Hard to imagine. In any event, it seems like your marriage is on the right track. Blessings to you and your husband.

Tom

Yes, this is us, on one of our rare vacations, several years ago. We went to the shore, in the Boston area.
I am very blessed that we found each other, and I feel very thankful for him. I didn't realize at first what a treasure he is, but I'm really glad I came to my senses! He's a very kind and loving man. May God bless you, my friend. Love, Mary Kay xoxo

I always read and enjoy and learn from author notes. I have been told I add too many, but I continue. . . I enjoyed your contest entry, Mary Kay. Age, as they say, is only a number. You and your husband are together forever because that was always in God's Master Plan. Your picture is beautiful that accompanies this entry. Great job with your entry and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you so much, my dear Portia. I appreciate the awesome review, the six stars and your kind encouragement in Christ. I'm so happy that you liked my author's notes. Thanks for your beautiful compliments, and your prayers. We're having a hard time in many ways, but trusting in the Lord, as in Proverbs 3:5-6, and Psalms 46:1-3.
I was hoping to promote this before people reviewed it, but you're so generous, you reviewed it without a reward! You're in my prayers, along with your family.
    Love, Mary Kay xoxo
