Such a clever story! Very humorous, and well written. It's a creative write as well, and there is plenty left to the imagination. Nice surprise at the end. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Funny. Eating spaghetti is so awkward. The Olive Garden gives you a choice of pastas, and I usually choose ziti. It's easier to eat. Use the fork is good advice. If I have to eat spaghetti, I use the fork to cut it into small pieces. This is funny, with an unexpected conclusion. Best of luck in the contest. judi

This is a very cute and very well written 80 Word Flash Fiction you have penned for the contest. You used very good descriptive words, very good imagery from your words and the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Lol. You mean "use the fork" and not the spoon? I wouldn't think it would be such a disaster to use a spoon unless Nooboo is a toddler, but I guess it's possible. It's good thing the future Nooboo gave him advice.
Best wishes in the contest!

Robyn said she couldn*t understand the story because it was too short so I added this***

Professor Kendrick had recently discovered that the Gem of Bosco Bay, brought back from a mining expedition on the far side of the moon, was an adequate power source for the interdimensional destabilizer.

After building the anti-contourilator and having both the gem and a fragment of swiss quartz aligned in the wisp beam, he initiated a test to break through to the fifth dimension.

He may have been successful, but during the experiment he was vaporized, leaving his legally joined partner without an LJP, and also his son, Nooboo, without a father.

It so happened that on that same day, Nooboo, who had just finished his spaghetti dinner, walked by the anti-contourilator, which was still on and looked to be a fun toy with which to play. He pressed a button and immediately disappeared.

No S**t Shinola. Talk about your no brainers. I surely hope that the stuff on Nooboo's face was a result of his using the spoon and not the fork. Otherwise, Urk, Here we go again, with the vomit by the bucket full.

Good advice. Wouldn't it be interesting if our future selves could pop back and warn us about what to do and what not to do? I say 'interesting' because it could cause quite a foul-up in the works.

Such important advice about using a fork may make it all necessary.

    Yes, it might!

Bill,

OoooOOOooo... I sense a deep, spiritual message here. Something powerful and important. Something ... Something -- ugh. JUST. Out. Of. My. Reach.

It feels like there is something I'm missing. Man. I hate it when this happens. Like there's a whole story going on beneath the surface and I'm missing out on everything. -- It's almost like the world and all it's treasures rest on the answer to this question. Wow. What could it be? I mean, I KNOW it's more than just if you use a spoon, you'll make a mess. You're a MUCH deeper writer than that. I know you so much better than you even know yourself!

It's like ... no - that's not it. Perhaps... No. There aren't any fish bones here.

I once heard that spaghetti is a euphemism for - but that's only when used in a setting with the word, 'Chicago', I think.

Nope. I just don't get it. I'll have to wait for the Cliff Notes, I guess.

I'm certain there are more words in this review than in the story, Robyn. However, I see your point and there is a back story I could only allude to in this eighty-word tale. Here is the rest:

Professor Kendrick had recently discovered that the Gem of Bosco Bay, brought back from a mining expedition on the far side of the moon, was an adequate power source for the interdimensional destabilizer.

After building the anti-contourilator and having both the gem and a fragrant of swiss quartz aligned in the wisp beam, he initiated a test to break through to the fifth dimension.

This is very witty. I speak as someone who finds eating spaghetti impossible, fork or not. I had it for dinner today and had to throw half of it away.

Haha! Nicely done. This made me smile. Sage advice from future Nooboo. If only we all had a future us to zip around in time and warn us of impeding calamity. I'm happy I read this little delight
