This is an excellent piece of flash fiction, RPSaxena. You've used good imagery and action verbs. And the ending was definitely a surprise. Good luck in the contest.

I enjoyed reading this fast action non fiction short story. I found it very believable, my kids, when small always scared me dumping on the pool and disappearing underneath...I like your use of strong verbs, and the picture enhances sp we;; the semto, emt pf your story.

The first paragraph spooked me. I had to scroll to the top to see if it were non-fiction. When I saw it was fiction, I relaxed and read the whole thing. But then, the kid didn't drown anyway, so all is well. Thank you for a convincing little story. Great entry.

Good picture to go with a surprising story. The boy disappearing would have sent many people looking for him, but he used a surprising talent to fool everyone. Well done.

This is such a great story, that I almost thought it was true. Only by glancing at the classification at the top, did I realize that it's actually "flash fiction"! Very convincing.
Before that, I was considering writing in this review box, how remarkable it was that you witnessed such a phenomenon; and I was debating in my mind whether or not you would be offended, if I were to ask: is this really true? Apparently, not! It is, in this case, more of a compliment.

This is quite the flash fiction. I can imagine people frantically waiting on shore for the boy to emerge.

All the required parts of a fiction story are in place, and a good twist at the end, as most of us can't hold our breath that long.

Wishing you great luck with the Committee. :))

This kind of experience, when diving and swimming, end up as a disaster. Many drown when they lose their footage and get swept away in the waves. Flash fiction always brings a twist toward the end.

The artful scallywag! I'll bet it wasn't the first time he'd done it either. Still, he was clever enough to not put himself at risk and who knows, that piece of information might stick in someone's mind and save their life one day.cheers Cass

I do believe in miracles. And a boy holding his breath for three minutes is a true miracle far as I'm concerned. LOL. But I'm sure all were glad to see him resurface. Thanks for sharing another fine post. I wish I had a six.
