Interesting mix of two seasons in this ekphrastic haiku. I think of a maple tree being red during autumn but snow seems to be winter. I liked the alliteration of words starting with F and S in the poem.

Love this...you have intermingled several facets here. Somehow I never knew foxes nestled in trees - that part delighted my morning. Everything in your write blends together like a cup of tea with two different bags. You are so talented!

an Ekphrastic Winter Haiku that brings joy and cheerfulness to this season that can often be dreary - both vivid color and life shine out from these lines

This poem provides a rich blend of colours, ones that are rarely seen together at least in Europe. We have the resplendent reds of autumn, being ushered out by the majestic and pristine whites of winter. Excellent piece of writing that I enjoyed reading very much.

Brilliant, Gypsy. Loved every word. Thank you for introducing us to "ekphrastic" poem. I like the image of sierra now at the foot of a maple tree - that is a great image.
Loved your pictures, and appreciate your detailed author notes. I learn more and more about haiku, reading your posts.

Hello Gypsy :)
I enjoyed reading your ekphrastic haiku.
The picture is beautiful and your words create lovely imagery which conjour a sweet scene.
Line one seems to contradict the rule in your author note regarding alliteration, but I don't mind! 'sierra snow' is perfect ;)
Best wishes as always, Debra

One alliteration word is okay if it happens naturally, no more than one.
Thank you very much for your review and feedback.

This EKPHRASTIC poem, inspired by a picture or painting, speaks vividly the state of Nature, as the picture speaks fox cradles on the bough at the feet of red maple tree; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR
