Greetings fellow fan. Spot-on for the season that heralds the encroaching darkness--witty whimsy in the punchline--clever play on mood/moody--this is a contender for sure.

Cool! I thought we were fans too. I'm posting some of last year's work on medium--after substantially reworking them.

Amen to that! I hate getting up in the dark and having dinner in the dark as well before slipping off to bed. i can understand why the bears hibernate... forget the cold and the dark.

Senyai,
You have penned an excellent Humorous Haiku.
The artwork chosen is perfect, as is your last line.
Since I have retired, I am not as moody; I just sleep longer.
I pray you and your family are doing well; have a blessed weekend
sending lots of love and hugs.

Hi Portia,
So glad to hear from you again! We are doing well. Hoping the same for you and your family.
Fall is upon us now as the equinox has passed and days are shortening. I love the fall with colorful leaves, pumpkins and turkey :)). Even with the darkness lasting longer, I just be sure and take my vitamin D3 LOL
Thank you much for a wonderful review?
Bless you, dear Portia. Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe ❤️

I enjoy the lightness of the last line, and the picture works well. I like that the poem has a nice smooth rhythm as fits a haiku, but then it's still humorous. Very nice!

A humorous take on the very real correlation between shorter winter days and depression. At the very least, the days when we go to work in the dark and come back in the dark have an adverse effect on our mood.

Hi Tony,
Thank you for an astute review and interesting thoughts! Yes, shorter days with less sunlight are upon us in the Northern Hemisphere now as the fall Equinox has just passed? so on with the pumpkins and turkey LOL and oh yes, colorful falling leaves?
Oh wait! Your spring is upon you, isn?t it? Australia or New Zealand? Longer days for you now :))
I appreciate your generous rating.

That cartoon is hilarious! I agree that it affects our moods to have so little sunlight. Best stock up on vitamin D supplements! Good use of alliteration in the second line and the funny "moods get moodier" ending!

Hi Senyai,
You can call me Helen. In Russian class, my teachers would call me by the diminutive for Lena - Lyenochka. I added the Y to get that "yeh" sound for the Russian E. Thanks for asking!

As one who used to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, this poem hit home. I like your use of alliteration in the second and third lines. While I'm not sure I truly consider this "Humorous Haiku," the last line did make me smile.

Hi Michele,
Oh thank you for a perceptive review and thoughts! Yes, I love fall with its bright leaves, pumpkins and turkey, but the shorter days and less sunlight
can bring out a sad mood at times.
Take care :))

A very nice haiku with good imagery and visuals. My only peeve is that you use "mood" twice (in different variations) in the poem that short. Perhaps, an alternate word can be found.
Good job though.
