Good allusion: "I'm trying to get a grip on what makes a clock like Karl Adler tick. It's called data gathering," & "The Stranger Beside Me," & ""Ann Rule's bio about Ted Bundy?" Strong juxtaposition: "Surrounded by white-washed picket fences, the resort was beautiful. Karl Adler intended to ruin the idyllic locale forever." We'll be back, for sure.

You have certainly created a monster in this story but one who looks so ordinary than people would fail to notice anything out of the ordinary. I hope Dutton can managed to figure this out soon. You are doing a great shop keeping us on edge

Dutton did not make it in time to stop the murder. I've lost count to the number of murders. Way too many!!!! You are doing a great job of writing this. I am enjoying this story. Thank you for sharing.

I think if this were a movie I'd have to stop watching before this scene ended, Brett. You've created a real monster in this character, which makes me cringe, but your writing is fantastic.
One suggestion:
"I'm trying to get a grip on what makes a clock like Karl Adler tick." - I'm wondering if you meant to use the possessive here: clock like Karl Adler's tick?

Copy-cat killer maybe like Ted Bundy. Killers have no sense of morals.They kill just to kill. What comes to mind is the movie catch me if you can. In the end they get him.

That Adler doesn't come across as a very nice person. He's devilish, a devil incarnate. He has no regard for anybody, but himself. I liked this chapter and it's very well written. Ulla:)))

A well written chapter. We get a good look at the detectives working the case, where they are are, and what they feel about the case progress so far. WE see the killer, and get a glimpse of what he dislikes and the process he goes through when killing.
