This gets a SIX.
Your close is phenomenal. Great message.
The poetic tools you use like alliteration etc, Really pull your words along nicely. It creates such a powerful tempo.
These are some of my favorite lines :
pristinely etched upon the page
All mortals face one destiny
our God to place you in my sight
Our faith allows our souls to soar
God bless. This is truly a great piece.
Genuinely Loved it :)

Hi Karenina,
I didn't know August either. Our paths never crossed in Fanstory. But he had a lot of fans and friends. Like adewpearl (Brooke) and Mastery (Bob), and many other Fanstory vets, he will be missed in our writing community. Your poem is a fine tribute to him, the "crzypntr" so many followed. We'll all get the "call" someday to a place where we'll be able to take our writing to a different level.
I'm sure his family appreciate your words here.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Such a large site! We just don't get to read everyone. August's work, when I went to read it upon hearing of his passing, really moved me.
His writing is a lasting legacy! Thanks,
Karenina

What a lovely poetic tribute, Karenina, of August the man and poet.
I, too, did not "know" him very well; in fact, it has only been recently that I chanced upon his work. As such, this stanza truly resonated with me:
I'm sorry that we did not meet--
while both of us were here to write.
Within my prayers I will entreat--
our God to place you in my sight.
If I could, I would spend far more time on this site. There are so many talented writers here...Some days, I am lucky to even stop in for a few moments...
Again, what a moving offering.
Thank you for sharing!

This is a beautiful tribute to this distinguished poet. I never knew him nor read any of his work, but I will now watch for his name among the files. My condolences to the family as well.

Hello Karenina,
A beautiful poem and tribute for August.
In some ways, all who write are kindred souls
who place pieces of themselves upon a page.
Words touch eternity, as do we, each time will
create a poem that soars into the ether of time.
Wonderful writing.
Best wishes to all.
Hope you are improving with each day.

Beautiful Tribute! Thank you for the author's notes August's poem
brought me to tears. The author's words are engaging, loving, kind,
thoughtful and creative. I pondered on those here at Fanstory who
have passed and we knew them in a deeper sense. I plan to read August's
work. The artwork compliments the theme and words of this poem.

Thank you. I am sure, like me, you will find his work powerful and emotional and very very real. May he rest in peace and may his daughter Amber be comforted by this, his book of tributes!

This is in a simple straightforward style and construction, but it fraught with emotion and I thought you did a great job of articulating this idea that poetry and literature can be a medium of emotional exchange; you can get to know a person's struggles, their joy, their pain, their loss, through their poetry. You can share in it and feel part of the human experience together through it. A wonderful tribute to a fellow writer. estory

Thank you. I did feel August come through his poems, even though I had never read him before his passing. His work is stunning. Another fine writer we've lost this year!
