I have always found them to be referred to as female...but who knows...men certainly try to trap pretty girls. An interesting and titillating tale and a question for pondering - well done.

This was great! I love that you turned the siren example on its head. I would say historically the number of female sailors was so low that's probably why it was one way. Plus women were seen as the evil seductresses.

I like the artwork and the premise of your poem very much. But choosing an AAA BBB CCC rhyme scheme was not a wise idea. It's hard to find three successive rhymes that aren't contrived. Lines two and six are good examples of what I mean.

Thank you for stopping by. This was a club event asking for mono rhymed triplets.metre at the discretion of the poet.

Yes good point made in notes; can't sirens also be males? ( same w boats names and hurricanes). Well your poem is good the rhymes flow and illustration is good choice
