I don't think a girl can be blamed for looking sexy, however, men take advantage of this. Not many women in history have been labelled a "siren". Thank goodness the term is used exclusively for those that deserve it.
Lovely imagination and painting.

I just wanted a role reversal
They are always talking about gender equality.men too should be given a chance to be sirens smile

Well, Sanku, when it is your fantasy, the siren can be anything you want it to be. LOL I found this poem most enchanting and unique. I enjoyed the three-line stanzas with the three end-rhymes in each. I adore creativity and you've exhibited it here in several ways. The picture fits your words perfectly. MM

There's absolutely no reason on God's good earth that males couldn't be sirens, but temptress doesn't sit well with the male gender, perhaps that's the reason. Beautifully written Sanku, the rhyming couplets are classy, concise, language rich and super, well done, blessings Roy

This is a good suite of mono-rhyme treated that tell of how enticing a siren was. I like the switch.
I think at one time ther we're male sirens. But the Greeks changed that when they decided to make them the three daughters of a god.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Sirens! An equal opportunity employer? Probably not, according to mythology but hey, it's a whole new world! Guess we should never say never, right?

Thank you very much .I just wondered .Were sirens always mermaids? In that case i just remembered a poem by Mathew Arnold 'Forsaken Merman" ...

I like your thinking! Yes, it isn't always the female that lures the man to some other place. Although I think sirens actually were more destructive after they lured their male prey. But your poem has a more pleasant end in a "fantasy land." Great job telling this story in your mono-rhymed tercets.
My favorite lines were:
"from it sailed out a song of sigh"
and
"a soft breeze cradled her at his command"

Thank you very much for these words Helen. Some one said it was unwise to attempt mono rhymes and he particularly thought 'sigh' was a forced rhyme...
I wrote it two weeks back ,but was unsure of posting it....

Good subject matter. Rewrite this poem. It seems a little awkward to me. The rhyme is a little forced. I think it would help to establish the gender of the person in the canoe a little earlier.

Legend has it that there are mermen but I'm not sure if they have the siren call. It's an interesting idea, I can't see why it can't work both ways. Thanks so much for sharing. :)

A little reversal of normal roles in this well written and quite captivating poem. It has a gentle air of fantasy and magic as he lures her away. Wonder how long the fantasy lasted.
