This was quite a confrontation, between Mary and Jon! And quite a shock for Cynthia. It's about time Father Jon was put in cuffs (maybe not matching his collar) and Cynthia was sent packing.

Just some minor suggestions:

Dear heavenly Father,
-->
Dear Heavenly Father,

she almost fainted in shock, except for the hair color she was staring at her neighbor, Liz.

The final scene, with Annie, was very heart-wrenching.

So Cynthia and Jon are both involved in the kidnapping of Annie. They didn't plan it but they know about it and they know who did plan it. So in the end they are as guilty as the kidnappers. Now, everyone is present and accounted for regarding Jon, Mary, and their family. How will they ameliorate the ups and downs of their lives?
Poor Annie, the pawn in this game of chess.

Carol,

Poor thing! And man, I would have been so happy to see Cynthia arrested! Put in cuffs? Are you serious? That would have made my whole day! hahahahaha I think they just want to get Jon away from her to use him in finding his GRANDdaughter!!!

Thanks!

I'm wondering why they let Cynthia go. She will go straight to Mason. I hope someone is trailing her. Now she knows some connection between Liz and Faith.
I was surprised at Faith's prayer. How did she know she was related to Liz? She only recently learned about Mary being her mother. But who told her about Hope? Even Mary didn't know.

Cynthia cracked me up. She left Jon hanging. She was hard when things were under her control but the idea of being gossiped about while in jail didn't appeal to her. Good way to end the chapter too. Annie's fear is a strong cliff hanger.

Yup, Karenina refers to her as SINthia and that woman is bad to the bone. She was going to save her skin regardless.

Thanks for the review and the stars. I am thrilled you enjoyed the story. Smiles, Carol

Of course Mary knows who Jon is, and I'm amazed Cynthia is allowed to escape, but that could be a strategic act. At last we hear from the dear child, and she is frightened and alone, which no child should ever be. Calling for Sebastian, a beautiful episode Carol, blessings Roy

I wanted Cynthia to be arrested too. It's not right that it's just Jon, although he does have information about Annie. Cynthia is absolutely no good. I love the story.

They both climbed into the Jeep as Garth started the engine. As the doors slammed, he was speeding down the gravel road.

As Jon stretched to shake Faith's hand, Mary opened the screen door. "So kind of you to visit, Jon." Her voice was icy as she glared at him.

As Mary said his name, Jon jumped and snapped his head in her direction. Wide-eyed, he choked out her name, "Ma--Mary?" (3 sentences start with 'as' in a very short sequence.)

Thanks, Barbara...I'll try to fix that. As for Cynthia, Garth knows she isn't going far except maybe to Mason. He didn't want her to hear what Mary and Jon had to say.

Reading another of your chapters is always a great way to start off my day. Then, after three or four hours gut wrenching emotions gone wild or mind racing out of control, I need a nap before getting anything done. But don't worry, I'm typical. I blame it all on you, rather than taking credit myself. LOL. Thanks for sharing and enjoy what's left of your long weekend! :-)

This is another nail biter, Carol. It's a good thing Pete had presence of mind to call Garth. Faith and Liz are too trusting. I'm wondering why Garth let Cindy go, but I can think of a reason or two. Poor little Annie. Well written.

Garth knows Cynthia won't go far except maybe to Mason. He didn't want her hearing what Mary and Jon are about to disclose after Mary gets done pulverizing him. LOL

I thought maybe he thinks she?ll lead them to Mason. I didn?t think about the conversation between Jon and Mary.

You are such an exciting writer, Carol, this part had me racing through it hoping that Sebastian would take a dive at Cynthia! And Garth and Hank let her go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They know she is in with Mason, and that she's trying to get hold of the gold. You are really stoking the coals up now, my friend, this story is HOT! Love it! Love and hugs. :)) Sandra xxx

Garth knows Cynthia isn't going far except maybe to Mason, and he didn't want her learning everything Mary was probably about to blast Jon with. Her icy veins are defrosting and she's ready to erupt...I hope. Smiles, Carol
