Hi Kace, I have a problem with people killing animals...

I guess people have to eat...but I don't like it for sport...
my family are big hunters...but they know when I am there...
they'll be no hunting...or I won't stay...

my brother kills deer and hangs their heads all over his house...I told him God gave us the animals to eat...but not to make sport of it...they do eat the meat...but I still think it is wrong...

the Indians prayed over the animals they killed...

I love your story told sweet pie...and love your poem
my sweet friend...very well written you...much love...Linda xxoo

Americans are gun-happy like some European countries. Reindeers are culled for food in Sweden. I hate sporting shooters. No wonder a lot of our animals are endangered species. The British started it in 1800's with tigers and elephants - sick. Much love you K xx

it truly is awful Kace...I would drive my
mother crazy when I told her...I could kill a human...but not animal...
    much love back at ya...xxoo

A different topic for the Love poem contest, your love for Scotland and the beautiful Stag. Lovely descriptions of the history and the beauty of Scotland. Nicely done, cheers

You have used several literary techniques in this poem. Metaphors and allusions are strong.Your juxtaposition will draw the reader in. The ugliness contrasted with beauty. The peace in the midst of violence. Piercing through it all is the graciousness of Nature. There is more, but this is enough for now.Well written

Hello Liz, I'm not educated in techniques like you. I just write from my heart when the spirit moves me. Thanks so much, K xx

I was a language arts teacher for 20+ years so that's the only way I know to review. It's as if I'm reading students' writings.

Your words capture the beauty of Scotland and I feel bad for the shooting of these magnificent creatures. Your smooth flow of words creates a scene where the reader feels like she is there. I would like to visit Scotland, it is part of my ancestry.

Your poem is beautiful and moving. I remember visiting Scotland and the Glen Coe area. It is a magnificent country even if we didn't see any wildlife. I really like the last stanza, not only because it rhymes so beautifully but it is so true. Great job.

Aussie,

I can't blame you. It has always been on my bucket list because it sounds GORGEOUS! Just like these scenes you paint for us with these wild stags claiming their territory. Amazing! Thanks!

Hi Aussie,

What a lovely poem about these Scotland deer! I wish people would not include deer in their game animals :( They are stately beautiful animals that we can refrain from eating!

Your lovely penned lines carry an urgent message that my soul carries as well.

Thanks for posting :))

Such a lovely metaphor about the wars in Scotland and England. Only rutting now. LOL! I don't normally care for free verse, but the beauty of the word-feel drew me.

Me neither! I always write rhyming poems but I thought it would be better to go free verse to let the story roll. Thanks so much for reading Aiona. K xx

Your last verse sums it up for me, Aussie. You describe this beautiful place filled with awesome descriptions of nature well. I could see everything you mentioned. Your image choice is beautiful too. Great job with the rhymes, the smooth flow, and the great, but sad message where man intrudes on the beauty.
Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Hello Jan, Thanks for reading, glad you enjoyed. A mysterious place, desolate but beautiful, just like the animals. Bless you, Kace xx

Well written, and beautiful reflective - and sad. I do not agree with or like hunting animals for sport or pleasure, and find this aspect of the members of the royal family very disappointing. I hope others take due note as well.

Hello Wendy, Tis a beautiful day here. Big fog this morning. Thanks for reading my friend. Princess Anne once had her own deer park within the castle, just so she could practice her rifle fire. The Royals have a lot to answer for. Have a good day my friend. K xx

Oh that is dreadful!! It's just plain cruelty to animals, inexcusable.
Lovely day here too, very springlike.
    Enjoy!

The Royals think nothing of shooting. It isn't as if they kill for meat. The Queen is the richest woman in the World!
