Once at our school, a child brought a scale that is used to weigh illegal drugs. I'm not kidding. The parent never came to pick it up. Thank you for sharing this contest entry. You have all the elements a story needs in this short story. I enjoyed reading and I want to wish you good luck.

I so glad you like this. I got a big laugh when my firend told me what happened. She was so embarrassed. I don't think she ever told her daughter she was too busy to help her again. Thank so much for the six stars.

Thank you Sandra. Of course we'd like to say we are as ignorart as the child as to what it was. One reviewer seemed to believe it was to massage sore muscles, but so far the rest know what it was.

My husband and I were once visiting friends, when their little daughter came running out of the bedroom of their small apartment, waving a (thankfully, unused) tampon, exclaiming, "Look what I found!"
The object was removed, and the clueless child had no idea why no one shared her excitement.
Yes, there are so many exciting things to explore in a child's world, aren't there!

On funniest home videos I saw two little boys who found a tampon. The thought it was an explosive and they wanted to light the string and watch it explode. Thanks so much for the review and comments.

An "exploding tampon," or so they thought -- that is too funny! I guess they never lit the string, because they could have started a fire, though obviously not an explosion!
My husband would have been on the floor, laughing. For some reason, he seems to find extraordinary humor in anything related to the female anatomy.

Thank you Gert. I'm so glad you liked this and gave me six stars. I have feeling the little girl didn't get to find out why her show and tell was canceled. She had no idea what she had found and I doubt if my friend told her. She knew it had a switch and vibrated whe turned on.

Yeah, I found it a little hard to swallow too, but I don't doubt a kid would be able to find something like that hidden away. My own daughter found a pack of condoms in a drawer. Opened them and came and told me she had found the perfect raincoat for her Barbie.
My son thought they were balloons.
