Wow. I knew the story was heating up. The fire mad that a literal truth!
I could slap Mason with all his sickening pandering to Liz: ""It was Jack's dream, but it's a big one for a fragile woman like yourself."

Really Mr. Caldwell?

He is the male equivalent of Cynthia. Two evil humans stoked by greed!

Liz, is admittedly way naive'-- Then again, Jack took care of everything before his death and he seemed to shelter her from everything. We think. I hope...

Nice tackle by Allie (again!)--blaming the screaming on Emmy when it was clearly Cassidy!

SO much going on! Breakneck speed and every bit of it is breathtaking!

Liz was sheltered her entire life and it's a blow to her to learn how to handle all these turn of events. Be sure and tell me when things aren't clear because I am trying to make it understandable for all.

I will (would) tell you... I totally got that Liz had been protected and now was in the center of a storm of emotions...

So this is the chapter when the barn fire actually started. I hope it will be the last chapter that I read out of sequence. I'm really following your story, and didn't want to miss any of the details!

Just some minor suggestions:

Mason couldn't have been happier to catch Liz at a weak moment, unless he'd planned it.

Sorry for the cut and paste but I am now currently 158 responses behind. I want to make the changes, thank everyone and start fresh. Wishing you a great day.

Please forgive me for being so far behind on answering reviews, fixing suggestions, and thanking everyone for their kindness. Good thing a birthday only comes once a year. I posted to my family that I was cooking and for the first time in years, my house was over flowing for two days after two days of cooking. Now in three days, Matthew starts filming again and I must cook for them. This woman is tired. Thank you for all your support and kindness.

Carol,

Part of the fun of your stories is the fast-pace. There is rarely a moment to breathe easy and you keep the reader on edge. Matter of fact, if there IS a smooth and easy moment - it kinda makes me uneasy because I figure something's about to drop. Very cool.

Notes:
1.) Mason tipped his Stetson and smiled(.) "It's Mason.

2.) "Nothing, I'd like better." Cynthia crossed the road

And I go...

No smooth and easy moments.... well, maybe every now and then for a breather. i wouldn't want to lose someone for lack of oxygen. LOL You've been awesome and I am thrilled that you have put so much time into reading today. And the stars are icing on the cake. Smiles, CArol

Well, I don't think it should be hard to guess who started that fire and why. The question I'm wondering is if there is something wrong with Liz or does she have a plan up her sleeve as is playing along. Good work building up the intrigue and keeping all the moving parts in order.

I need my internet to co-operate. I can write on Word but when I get on Fanstory or goggle it keeps kicking me off. So much for country living and storms...I am so far behind! My apologies!

Thank you again for continuing to follow the story and appreciate my efforts.

Quite a coincidence that the evil one would be on the property where there was a fire? It's a pretty blatant plan he has. Doesn't Liz know about Cassidy and Mason? She seems unaware of what is going on. Mason and Cynthia make a good pair.

Liz is extremely pampered and overwhelmed now that Jack isn't there to protect her. She is kind of naive to the real world I guess. Growing up sick and spoiled by her adopted parents... she wasn't exposed to reality as much.

An exciting chapter. Liz is too naive and trusting, and should not be inviting people into the house where Cassidy is hiding, and Allie recovering. Enjoyed the details of wine-making. Looking forward to further developments of your complex but fascinating story.

Panoramic tour of wine production! Vivid fire imagery. Chills and thrills.

Lost in her thoughts, Darryl's voice startled her. (his voice wasn't lost ...)
SUGG: Lost in her thoughts, she was startled by Darryl's voice.

Once inside, the men grabbed CO2 extinguishers AND fire blankets, and they connected two other hoses to the fire hydrants.

Liz looked confused because Emmy and Hank's bedroom faced the opposite direction. "But--" (I'm confused too!)

Is Cynthia in cahoots with Mason Caldwell, it's funny how his turning up coincided with the fire, and Daryl's suspicions being on alert. Now Miguel seems to be also in the same ballpark, poor Liz is under stress now, I don't think that Caldwell is at all interested in making wine. Beautifully written, ah that's it, the gold! Well done, blessings Roy

She just might have something going on behind the scenes with Mason and none of it will be good. Michael may discover his aunt has pulled him into something he wasn't ever prepared for. The next few chapters should be a whirl wind for sure. Smiles, Carol

Oh no! You sure know how to create the villain/villainess character. Really don't like that Mason character. I wonder if Michael will turn against his aunt or vice versa.
What was Liz thinking inviting Mason in the house where Cassidy is hidden?? I guess the woman screaming was Faith or Mary?

No the woman screaming was Cassidy in the back bedroom, but Emmy covered for her quite well I think. Michael is having a small storm brewing inside his head at the moment concerning his aunt. The tornado that's brewing on the horizon isn't anything he would be on board for gold maybe but the rest.
