Ah, oranges and cloves - those and apple cider all bring about that warm and spicy smell of autumn. I guess I didn't see this because it was for a contest. Congrats on the third place finish!

    Thanks for the review and the congrats; I didn't know that I came in third. This was a fun write; while I am out tomorrow, I will stop and buy some oranges and cloves and make a basket of orange cloves. I love the spicy smell.

Wonderful 5-7-5 that could also double as a haiku since your dealing with nature.

A breathtaking scent...beautiful line. And how very true. I LOVE cloves. I use them a lot in my homemade tea and somtimetimes even eat them whole. Smelly, but very good for you.
Your 5--7-5 is very evocative and creates excellent imagery.

You bring this 5-7-5 to life with this fantastic olfactory image of the 'orange clove'. The two aromas blend uniquely one can smell them in one's imagination. This made me think of Christmas decorations and we are still in August.
