I laughed and said that I loved music and I would be happy for them to play 80's music while operating on me. & All my friends were surprised that I didn't spend at least a couple of days at the hospital but no, & and I tell them that I prefer to be self-motivated. (You can omit 'that' it's extra and not needed in these sentences.)

Thank you, Pam, for your detailed and encouraging review. I appreciate your comments on my journey in recovery. I find it hard to try to relax. I just relaxed naturally, the day of the surgery.
I will keep Fan Story posted as to my progress as I start walking again.

I honestly don't read much non fiction that isn't plants, cooking, or on writing craft so I don't know if my opinion should really be taken into account but... I feel like there should be more connecting the beginning and end of the account. Not sure if that makes sense but an accounting of a series of events can be interesting but a connection of emotions to your audience would give it more life.
Here are a couple of grammar things I found.
* Add comma - I felt elated(,) as if I were going to have something life-changing happen to me.
* Apostrophe is not needed on decades 80s
*Add comma- That went on for several days(,) with -Starting on August 11th(,) I - many(,) thankfully, near where I live

Good afternoon, Gloria. Thank you for the encouraging and positive review. I love your word choices. I appreciate your kind comments very much. I will be writing again when I am walking with the aid of a walker. I intend on keeping folks at FS apprised of my progress in that area.

Thanks so much, my friend! I appreciate the encouraging and uplifting review! I love and am aware that my outlook on life affects my recovery and, I am so grateful for the friends in my life, who helped me, get through it all! Yes, Sunny was thrilled that I arrived back home the same day of the surgery...I am sure she remembers when I was away for 4 1/2 months, after my neck surgery! Yet, she is a survivor, as I am, also. We are both two peas in a pod.
